I got an HP dv5178us a few months back as a replacement for my Compaq x1010US under CompUSA's TAP warranty (3x same part = replacement). I tried to ghost the entire hard drive and when I pulled the image back down, it was not bootable. I tried repairing the boot sector with the XP Recovery console to no avail. I am guessing this has to do with the Quickplay software being Linux based and using that as the bootloader.

After several lock-ups with the 5178, I exchanged it for a dv2050us.

My question is: Can I ghost the hard drive and bring it back down, or do I need to use another partitioning software?
