nw9440 never came

I ordered a nw9440 on 9/22 and now they tell me it's backordered and they keep putting back the date to 11/7. On 10/4 they told me they would get me a preconfigured one in a week. I changed my order and it's still on backorder. I cancelled my order and I'm going out and buying a Mac Pro and Macbook Pro. I'm done with HP.

Backorders happen with any company...

Hot selling item, lots of orders, popular item =backorder.

Item nobody wants = just drive around to the window... we just "happen" to have a bunch in stock...

Best of luck with the Mac....

I had the same problem, but with a dv9000t. The most frustrating thing was that others were getting their machines delivered on time and for some reason my particular order kept getting delayed. After waiting and extra week and not getting an ETA from HP I just cancelled my order.

I dunno... you might consider that the nw9440 is pretty hot, and very in demand. There's a hot deal until 10/31 where you can get a 9440 w/1Gb, C2Duo T7200, 80HD/7200 + 19 " flat external monitor, + NAS dock with 160/7200 + adjustable notebook dock stand + keypad / mouse for $2799. Moreover, they'll ship that shit for free. When you add up and compare, you'll be hard pressed to beat that with any other HP notebook approaching the capability of the nw9440. Whatever... good luck. BTW, you can get a nw9440 on the HP refurb site... it's a core duo version 1, 1GB, 80/5400. Price is $1749, but they will let it go for at least $1662. I called about it once. OTOH, it only has 1 yr warranty, so by the time you add more warranty, you're in the range of a hot nx9420. I'm gonna go pour some more vodka...

All the Core 2 Duals are on backorder except the 2.0 from dealers. HP knows how to take orders back they can't fill them. I saw a similar special on CDW's site. Where did you see it?

There is a guy who posts in the for sale thread, he sells mac computers at 20% off retial and he's completley legit, several members of this forum have bought from him and all have been pleased. He also uses excrow.com for payment, so you know you won't be getting screwed.

I have been thinking about getting a macbook pro, but since more than half the programs I use are windows only I am trying to decide if the macbook pro is a good choice for me.
