no to be honest, my intentions were to extend my manufactures warranty before it expired but since the company messed up my order, i did pursue to go about reordering it. but yea once my laptop went out.. i went back to the company to honor my original purchase since they were technically at fault originally.

Thanks for the info! Hopefully someone will be able to use this info should the inevitable happen to them as well. My warranty expired 5 months ago so im kicking myself for not getting the extra warranty when I still could. Everyone who hasn't bought an extended warranty yet should really be thinking about doing it or end up regretting it later on.

Im looking at some barebones laptops right now to put my old Ferrari parts into. Asus is looking like the winner so far.

I shipped it out saturday thru Usps Priority Mail. Acer recieved the package monday. They repaired and shipped it back out Tuesday. and i am getting it back today =)

Im in texas so the service center is only 200mi away approx. thats why its processed faster.

They replaced the motherboard. I think it is the graphics chipset that burned out. because when i plugged in the ac adapter, you know how the screen flickers (ati chipset changing perfoamance profiles), well my educated guess would be that it burned the chipset somehow. Thats why no video on boot.

But the ac adapter was also making a little buzzin sound when you first plugged the adapter in to the laptop so i complained about that and now they are sending a new adapter as well.

Okay, here's my story Got mine laptop back from the service center on Tuesday. Everything seemed to be ok except for the wireless - it couldn't find any wireless networks, although there were pretty many of them around. I noticed that the wireless button behaved quite strangerly - blinking with not so bright light as it used to be. Okay, I tryed to disabe and enable wireless by pressing the button and windows just froze. This happened every time I tryed to diactivate and then reactivate the adapter.

All right, I then spent an entire day trying to figure out what was causing the problem. My assuption was - drivers. Reinstalled everything I might possibly think of - no results. Okay, Restored everything back to factory defaults - no results. Okay, installed WinXP x64 edition - the same problem. That's when I finally thought that the problem was related to hardware. Wireless network card, maybe?

Okay, took wireless card from my second Acer Aspire (the card is identical to the one installed in Ferrary), no result. The card working in Aspire refused to work with Ferrari. Went back to the service center. They told that it could be deffective motherboard and they would try to replace it, this time for free.. Okay, but I again need to wait another week or so to get the laptop back.

So; any of you experiencing problems with wireless after the repair should now know what to do I'll keep this updated when I hopefully get Ferrari back working like it should have always been..
