Remove stickers/badges from notebook case

Thread Starter
I posted this in the general section as well, but I'll ask here as well. I will be buying a new laptop next year, and normally, it will be a black Macbook, as I have been a mac user for many years and absolutely hate Windows. However, I'm currently looking into Ubuntu Linux and considering it for a complete migration. In other words, if I find that Ubuntu will allow me to do anything I want to do with a computer (and for free, I might add !), I might consider buying a PC laptop since I can get one with a 15" or 17" monitor for the price of the 13" Macbook. My question is rather a strange : on a PC laptop, which always comes with an annoying collection of stickers (or badges or whatever they're called) like Intel inside, Designed for Windows XP,... can you remove those (I'm particularly interested in removing the one with Windows on it) without causing damage to your laptop or leaving any marks on it ? Has anyone tried this ?

Its an adhesive on the back of them most of the time, being careful is all you need usually.

PS Running Linux on a macbook is not nessecarily a bad idea. Its a little more involved though. For reference...

just pull the sticker off (with your finger nail) and use isopropyl alcohol to get rid of any excess glue. Make sure to not get the alcohol on your screen because it will smear.

I got an Asus A8JM a couple of months ago and the Nvidia and Windows stickers won't come off. This machine (2.0 GHz Centrino Duo, 2GB RAM, Nvidia 7600 w/512 MB VRAM, 160 GB HDD, 1280x800 14" screen) runs Ubuntu very well. THe only problem I have is the occasional disconnect of the ipw3945 driver from my 802.11G router. If I recall correctly, this is cause by the dual cpu and is suppose d to be fixed in the Ubuntu 6.10 final release.

Cheers

if you get a computer from a smaller online reseller it won't have as many stickers as something you pick up @ best buy, for instance my Uniwill came only with an ATi sticker, while my bro's computer came only with a Pentium-M sticker. If you let the computer heat up real nice, the glue will let the sticker come off easier.
