My 3450 got me in trouble yesterday...

I live in Michigan and it gets warm in day and cold at night, well our furnace went out over the weekend, got an appointment for it tomorrow actually to get fixed/looked at but yesterday it was chilly in here and I had to get a few things done website wise for two of my clients and needed to catch up on emails and such.

I also had a list of todo stuff which included returning books to the library.

So I decided to go to the library and return books and do some work, mind you this was a Tuesday morning 10am, kids are in school, mostly soccer moms and such who ever visit library at this time.

I go get a few new release books to check out later, but am mainly there for the wifi and cuz my place was really cold due to the furnace issue.

I went and found a seat in the corner of the main book reading table work area and signed in to use the wifi and get to work, all of about 5 mins into working a lady stops looks says what is that? (the alienware logo), so I explain yes im a geek this is my geekylaptop and we move on (she had never seen one).

Saw a few weird looks (made me feel a bit weird as they were looking at my 3rd eye or something)....

About 10 mins later im finishing up a few emails and another person walks up, this time its the janitor at the library, of course interested in the glowing logo he saw from across the entire lobby, and asked what is that I go into the story again...

I get back to work, then that first lady and another lady from the circulation desk show up, I show the circulation lady and explain yes im an ubergeek and this is my geektoy laptop, all is fine.

This was going on for about 30 mins and I wasn't getting my work done, and its a library so I was tryin to be quiet, so I decide to review my 2 books close laptop and go back into the quiet study room, this is where people go for QUIET STUDY in the library, basically don't bug me room.

I go to the corner desk facing the wall so no logo showing to public area, turn on lappy and get back to work, well I guess this one girl (a witchy looking girl strung out on starbucks and a stack of books) in the quiet room saw the talking I was doing in the main seating area with the people who stopped and had spoken to me and she went and told the lady at the front desk I now came into the quiet study room and needed to leave because some people there had WORK to do not chatting.

Mind you I had not started ONE of these conversations, I went into the quietroom to work and not be bothered, and had not made a PEEP or even a heavy keystroke yet the front desk lady came in and said I needed to leave the quiet study room due to complaints (that I heard a few mins later when I went to her desk to say WTF? in a nice way).

I went up to the desk to discuss this with her as it was STUPID for this chick in the quiet room to suddenly go have me removed when I didn't start or do anything, in fact I explained why I even went in there in the first place which was to get my work done...

Anyways I ended up going into the seating area over by the kids section, i propped my backpack up to block the front of the laptop and got my work done with no problems there, moms chasing 3 yr olds around etc, in that area noise isn't an issue and with the logo covered i did alot of work fast....

Just a funny story never bring your alienware to the library unless you want to get into many discussions about it.

Was fun tho, heck if i was there and saw one (knowing it) I would bug the person too hehe.

I do wish there was a way to turn off the blue logo for times like that.

Dude, I hear you on this one. Since I started travelling with my Sentia, my time through security checks has SIGNIFICANTLY increased. Nobody ever checked my old Thinkpad for explosive residue. Now I get checked every time... accompanied by questions and comments about the AW design.

that sucks. why cant they realize that if you were indeed trying to get explosives on board you would use a Dell or other common computer company. Though with the battery issues, you might not need explosives...

Bill appears not to be a TYPE A personality.

Given the same circumstances, Try to kick me out of the quiet room, just try
aint gunna happen

Haha, I don't think any of the people approaching me about my laptop would be very successful in even starting a conversation let alone kicking me out.

The only time anyone has approached me about my Sentia ws to compliment the screen. Then there was a guy I work with who's a huge Mac fan boy and when he saw it commented, "If there was a laptop I'd give up my power book for that would be it."

Haha, everyone I know has seen an Alienware laptop. Most being jealous now that I own one, but when the price was down as for as it was, I had to get on that deal.

Im with archallen, I wouldnt have moved if I was told to. I would have explained what happened, then just went back to my work. If the Librarian bothered me again, Id tell her that shes in a library, and she needs to stfu.

I had no idea that would do it, thanks will try tomorrow.

As for leaving the quiet room, that strung out chick was actually bugging me, it looked like she was cramming for some huge test or something i dunno, just being in the room with her was sorta freaky vibe feeling, so i gladly went over to the kids side, one of those moms chasing kids around was a serious MILF too so it was better scenery to move hehe

You can use the old look still. There's a choice at the top somewhere for "view old site"
