7200RPM notebook drives are available with IDE connectors, so you're not exactly at a disadvantage. The industry hasn't entirely moved over to SATA yet.

so theres no sata slot anywhere on the motherboard?

how does it work, are the motherboards either completely sata or completly IDE?

I have never seen a 1705 with an EIDE hard drive. This issue has come up a few times here on the forums and it appears as if there is a typo in the outlet systems. With that said your system will most likely have a 5400rpm SATA drive so the answer is most likely yes you will be able to install a 7200rpm drive.
