repair depot crap

So about a month and a half ago, my a51-7700 wouldnt start. i mean no lights no sound, nothing. I had turned it off at night, then the next morning i tried to turn it on and nothing happened. i emailed tech support and went thru all the standard reseat ram/ video card/ everything. none of that worked. so they approved to send it in. so i sent it in. on september 15 i asked for the update on my computer at the repair depot to see if they had received it, on september 17 i got a reply saying there was shipping damage and to call customer support. so i called and the guy said they were still going to fix it UNDER WARRANTY and that they would call if there were any more problems. Fast forward one month later with no word from them til now... I get an email on the 15th of October saying there was physical damage to the computer (the pcmcia port and card reader) and that to replace the mobo would be 300 bux! so i emailed this guy back and said that i talked to a guy on the phone a month ago and said it was still under warranty and they were gonna fix it for free. So now a month later i am getting emails saying i have to pay 300 bux to fix the motherboard (which it appears to me is probably the problem with my comp not working in the first place) and 150 for a new case that was damaged...

BTW the only damage i had done to the case was take the alienware head off and break the LEDs bcuz i was tired of the bright light shining at night. I did not do anything to the side of the case where the other damage is. And i did not drop the computer or even move it after i turned it off, before it didn't work the next morning. This is ridiculous and i am pretty pissed off. Good thing i went ahead and bought a macbook pro instead of waiting for the comp to be returned.

So can someone help me. Maybe one of you Alienware guys can help me out

Sorry to hear that. I'm going to wager a guess and say your warranty may have expired during processing so the technician now working on it is just going through the motions he has to when he receives a laptop to repair not under warranty. What was the status of the warranty? Just remain calm and polite and talk to customer service. If they aren't being helpful ask to speak to a supervisor or the netx level of support. Maybe PM Alienware-Steve, too.

Also, didn't you know there's an FN+Key combination t turn the Alienware head/name lights off?

FN+F1 turns the top/back logo lights off (at least on mine), which bothered you even when you had your laptop open? The below monitor LCD's pissed me a lot more untill I just taped them over with blue duct tape. How old was your warranty/laptop? I think they should honor the warranty as long as they recieved your complaint or at least the laptop before it expired (them holding it for over a month waiting for your warranty to expire so they can send you back a bill doesn't sound right). This might not be so helpful at this point but try to get the names and serial #'s of everyone you talk to in case you have to refer back to them.

I was told to send in my video card on my m7700 (6800FXGo Ultra). I sent the card in which I was given VIP shipping services to get it there extra fast and recieve it in the same way. Now that my card is in alienware's hands, they inform me that the 6800 is not in stock! OMFG. Why didn't anyone tell me they card was not in stock before I sent it in? I could have waited to be video card-less. Now instead of waiting 6 days, 2 days there, 2 days at the depot, 2 days back to me.... Now I will be waiting an undetermened amount of time... I was told I could wait up to 2 weeks.
