ok got the hinge covers off, now just got to get the big hinge cover off of the front. I guess my problem is I don't want to use much force, but any pointers would help. Do you just pry upwards in the little slot?

Push them towards the rear of the laptop and then slide them to the left and right to remove them. They don't take much force when you're removing them correctly .

Thanks for the link on how to take her apart. I did manage to get the 2 side hinge covers off, now I can't seem to get the center bezel off (I believe this is refered to as a hinge cover also - the one with the power button. The doc shows you prying upward slightly to disengage the bezel. So far I can't seem to budge it.

Anyonr know where to get screws besides ebay?

Removing hinge cover

There's a picture there that shows ; the lcd closed and hands grasping the cover at the hinge points. Place your hands the same way and use your fingernails to seperate the hinge cover from the chassis, then open the lcd to 180 degrees without pushing the hinge cover back down, take hinge cover off.

The first time I attempted this I was afraid of breaking something as well, it gets easier everytime.

My problem is that the hinge cove with the buttons is humped up right near the screw above it. I want to see if I can correct it. The screw above it is also burred up. Not sure if the previous owner opened her up or if it was from dell like this. I ordered some new screws and and new hinge covers direct from dell for $30 in case I mess things up. Thanks for the help. I'm sure i can't get her open just because I'm a little too afraid to apply force.
