creative xmod x-fi usb sound module

just got a creative xmod and it sounds great. I didn't think it was possible to make my bose triport headphones sound any better, but the little xmod does it. It doesn't do much in the performance department for gaming, but it really does make mp3 files sound better. It looks pretty cool too Its nice because there's nothing to install and has no associated processes running.. didn't even come with a driver cd or anything. The earbud headphones it came with were subpar, but the storage bag it came with is nice.

That being said, I don't have the best ears, so it may not be as significant as I think, but I can tell a noticeable difference between it and the on board audio in my 9300 and I much prefer the sound through the xmod..

just thought I'd share my experience since I haven't seen many threads on the device and i remember a forum member asking about it a while back.

I am curious where you bought it and how much it cost (cant seem to find a retailer)

TIA

It is preordering in amazon.com

MRSP: USD$79.99

Should be available in October.

I read many previews said it's not bad for the price, but one bad thing: It needed external power when doing line-in recording, but the power adapter is not bundled nor anywhere selling...

bought it at best buy.. It retails for $79.99. I work there in computers, and i didn't even realize we had them at first. I knew nothing about it or a few of the new lower end x-fi models we got in. There usually not that quick to have something new like that, so I was surprised when I saw it

Thanks for the reply.
I am still debating if I should buy a USB soundcard before I move to Japan or just wait and see what is available there.
