Winbook won't start up (RAM?)

Ok, so I found some RAM and wanted to know how much it was (mb...). So I opened up the WINBOOK X1 laptop, replaced my RAM and restarted. First, it got an error from windows. Something like invalid or whatever. Windows had to shut down. I pressed "on" button and oit turned the laptop off. Now, I can't turn on the computer! Even after reaplacing my old RAM, the laptop doesn't make a sound.
I've tried with the power cord in, and out. Same thing.

Help please!

If I can't solve this problem, then is there a way to save some of the data on the Hard Drive and back it up some where else.
I thought of putting the drive in my big desktop pc )the one im on now. But after taking the desktop pc apart, I noticed that there isn't a power plug-in on the laptop HD. And Im not sure if laptop HD pins can fit into the HDD (I think thats what U call them) slots....
So, couldn't back up through my desktop pc....

Sooo...can some one tell me what is happening?

You can plug your laptop HDD in the desktop but you'll need an IDE adapter. It costs only a few $. It something like this:

You need SD SODIMM RAM for that laptop. If you tryed something different could have dameged your laptop (although I can't see how... usually the RAM burns out not the mobo). Check the RAM socket. MAybe you dameged a pin or something.

hum...

I'm surprised there is a converter for this kind of job...neato!
One question about these IDE adapters: what are the pin-sockets like? I know what the IDE and power thing look like, but isn't every HD have some sort of 'unique' pin 'shape'. For example: my laptop's HD is a IBM 20Gb DJSA-220. It's pin shape is like: http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/8762/piniq1.gif
How do you know if this certain pin sequence will fit into the input end of the converter?


For the laptop's RAM, I've been using 128mb 144pin SODIMM RAM. What is the SD part you said ealier?
I've checked the pins and everything around the RAM socket...looks ok to me...
