hi!!
today my display shows an defect. it looks like white reflections ON the screen, but their are IN the screen. like burned. so i called dell and they want to send one of their technicians to change the display. i replayced the go6800 with the 6800 ultra. should i rechange the card and the bios before he comes?? i mean, when my 9300 boots up, it is a xps/inspiron on the bootscreen. what would happen when he notice this?

thanx!!!

You could always tell the tech that it is just a custom boot screen. If he even asks.

We're not the warranty police. I doubt he'll even notice.

well if he needs to crack open the notebook hell b e able to tell right away. Just removing the control panel cover and the keyboard would reveal a two pipe heatsink where only a 1 pipe should be and from there its the tech discretion if he wants to push it any further and possibly void your warranty completely. Although i would guess since a Dell tech is contracted he wouldnt bring it up to Dell because they would void the warranty and not pay him. But... it is a chance. I know its a pain to swipe cards but.... youre taking a chance.

Putting a 6800 Ultra in does void the warranty?

today i've updatet the hacked bios with the dell xps-bios A05. now i have a clear bootscreen. there is no xps/inspiron or something else. i think it would be fine now when he comes. i dont want to change the cards twice. the first time it was horrible to see my lap completely cracked on the floor.
