Hello,

I bought an aspire 5612 NWLMI last week, and whenever im using the internet and suddenly unplug the network cable, the OS locks up, so i have to reset and start all over again, i dont think this is how its supposed to be is it ? i have already checked and i have the latest drivers, im about to format and start it over to see if its something with WinXp PRO but i doubt it, is there anyone experiencing the same problem? any hint is appreciated with what i might try to solve this problem.

Best Regards
Willie

an update on this if anyone cares;

1) tried formatting the computer, same problem after OS reinstall
2) tried with another cable, same problem
3) tried with a crossover cable, no problem
4) tried with a normal cable without a PPPoE connection, everything works

strange that it happens only after i have established a PPPoE connection with my ISP, to me it sounds a like a hardware problem

Im wondering if this is specific to my notebook, so if anyone has a similar or same model and can do this test, just establish a PPoPE connection and then unplug the network cable, tell me if everything freezes and you have to reset the laptop.

been there, done that, solved the problem, just installed another PPPoE dialer and using it instead of windows one now a question that will remain unanswered, is this a bug in microsoft´s ppoe dialer?!
