Well I have the M505x model and plan on buying another one... is 1350 for a XL model a good deal? 2 months old virtually new or a brand new one for 1180 X model? btw these are Ebay prices i quoted by resellers thanks guys

go with the xl for sure. i love it. the x is great too, though; if you can afford it it's worth it for teh dvd-rw and extra processing power+winxp pro

Is XP Pro, a DVD burner, and a miniscule amount of processing power worth $300 to you. Only you can answer that.

Or the wait, don't forget about the wait.

When I bought my m505x (it was a Saturday), I needed the notebook on the following Monday. I probably would have ordered an XL, but because I took my sweet time choosing a notebook, I was left in time crunch. It was kind of nice to be able to walk into the Gateway Country Store and walk out with my notebook. Plus, they let me check for dead pixles.

I have a DVD burner in my desktop, I can get copies of XP Pro from a friend at MS, and I have a fairly highend desktop with a 9800 Pro. So, I think the trade off between the X and XL was pretty small. If the XL came with a 7200 RPM drive, I probably would have chosen it over the X.

However, if you think the XL is the one for you, I would get it. That's the nice thing about having 2 models to choose from.

WOW... For the M505X, I ordered it yesterday with a CSR for International Sales, he was extremely nice and polite too... When I check the online status today, it has already been shipped... I didn't expected that it would be this quick, too bad you can't use the AAA discount with the 100 rebate... Otherwise would be a really really sweet deal~
