I love how they tout the "600Mbps" capabilities of 802.11n... they can't even get the draft spec 'n' technology to run at current 'g' speeds yet! Hope those developers can get their game together by launch time... I would hate to see the Santa Rosa platform delayed because the wifi boneheads couldn't hack it.

I will say this though. The 800Mhz FSB for the new Merom will surely open up a whole new world of speed for notebook users. The memory bandwidth that C2D craves just cannot be supplied by the current 667Mhz FSB. This combined with Dell's newfound interest in allowing CPU overclocking for us should make Santa Rosa one doozy of a launch. I am hoping this all goes down right around tax season myself. I can see myself flipping for a high end XPS notebook right around that time, so I will certainly hope they keep on track for the release date... that money has a way of burning a hole in a truckers pocket!!

Instead of BIOS, the new platform will support UEFI, an interface that helps hand off control of the system for the pre-boot environment (i.e.: after the system is powered on, but before the operating system starts) to an operating system, such as Windows or Linux.
Ruh Roh. New BIOS. I wonder if XP will even boot on these systems, or will they force users to Vista?

I hope they have a compatibility mode for OS that use the old bios system, such as xp

I will likely buy a new laptop in the new year
