Go to the ASUS notebook forum and there is a sticky on ASUS resellers, there rating (by customers) and location/website.

Some of them post on NBF and it would be nice to buy from them b/c you can ask them questions about tech support or whatever after you get the notebook. (the resellers I see most often on here are gentechpc.com and milstonepc.com)

You are correct, mobile version of GPUs are usually clocked slower and sometimes feature reduced to help keep them cool and suck less juice.

Your eyes only see 33.3 fps. Anything above 30 will be smooth and not lag. If you get a notebook with a wxga screen that has a resolution of 1050x800 you will have even better peforamance with very little image quality loss.

lol now you are comparing games with tv that just proofs how clueless you are.

get cs set maxfps to 30fps. then change it to 40fps so on until 60fps. and tell me you dont see a difference. now cs is a very old game so you can all get 100fps with x1600

Well, the x1600 pro seems to perform about the same as the mobility x1600. The Desktop x1600 xt blows away the mobility x1600.

And since I have an x1600 pro....

it can play source on high settings no aa no af no hdr on laptop native res with 50fps-60fps which is not very good at all imo. like i said its about the same speed as a 6600gt (probably lower) and the gt is about the lowest gaming card for desktops.

the m1210 got a 7600?

Normally you should be happy with X1600 more than 14fps on Prey. When graphic on 30fps it seems very good already there's no noticable stuffs on over 40fps. Only reserves the speedy power. I own X700Pro and that's about same as 6600GT.. X1600 is quite good already.

Dell xps 1210 has the 256MB Go 7400 TurboCache option. It is not the 7600. afaik.

I believe the Turbo Cache is bad...it steals memory ram and performs below par. Can somebody confirm this ..thanks.

thats what i though. choose the gpu for yourself isnt hard. just look at what you play and get one thats suitable fps is all in opinion i have a friend who plays oblivion on 10fps and he saids its fine. x1600s do very good in 3k05 which might confuse newbs since its performance in games isnt nearly as impressive.

Turbocashe does borrow memory from the RAM to use as video memory and theres a lot of mixed opinions on it. I'm from the group that says its not a good thing, because it can deprive you of your vital RAM. But theres also a group of people that think its awesome. Aintz, having an x1600 of my own and compareing it to a friends GeForce 6600, I can say it does outperform the 6600 by a very nice margin. The 6600 performs on about the same level as my x700 (Give or take a couple FPS for either of them). Maybe you should try these cards yourself instead of finding some review on the internet.

im talking about desktop 6600gt... the difference between 6600 and 6600gt is huge and i know for a fact that the 6600gt is the same speed as the desktop x1600xt and that mobility x1600 is almost the same as desktop x1600xt except that its slightly slower

Thanks for the answer, but there is something more I would like to know. I have been looking at the Dell XPS M1210, and found a bunch of fellows saying that they have played many games with good performance ..(I know...."good" is subjective"..). I believe some were using the previous version od 1210, which I think had the 7200 card. In any case, on one side most of you seem to agree that, for good gaming performance, the minimum should be 7600/7700 or 1600. On the other side there seems to be many 1210 users that claim satifying gaming experiences with their 7200/7400 cards. Can you please comment and help me understand what seems to be a contradiction?

M1210 is the 7400 no such thing as 7200 in it.

Everybodies opinion of good performance is different.

I'm suggesting 7600/7700 or 1600 as what I would put in as a minumum for good gaming performance.

Jeff, my comment was not specifically addressed to your answer, but said answer was so clear in stablishing a minimum requirement (which other forum members seem to agree to) that I thought it was a good base to compare with what the 1210 owners are saying.
