avi to mov in OSX

any free way todo this? i have quicktime pro.

also have a few mpg files that simply wont open in quicktime?

try Handbrake. It should be able to convert formats.

ffmpeg

Half a dozen other free programs.

ah, just found out how to convert avi to mov in quicktime pro. just worried about the mpg files that pop up with this message now....

Both of those programs can convert it. FFMPEG does nothing but convert, VLC can convert while it is playing, just convert, or play, whatever.

ill have to play with both some more. quicktime is doing what i want it to. itll run the export, for an hour (seems like a long time on a 80mb file), and then itll not output anything in the video.
