UF814 - 7900GS Dual Pipe
DG008 - 7900GS Single Pipe

That part will ONLY work on the Inspiron e1705/9400 and XPS M1710.

Good point. I just checked your post history Crash, and your last post here (year and a half ago? Where'd ya go? ) shows you owned an Inspiron 9100 with a Radeon 9800. If this is the system you are wanting to upgrade you are most certainly out of luck.. As Machina stated, the two cards I referenced are strictly for the I9400/E1705 and M1710. These two cards will also plug into an Inspiron 9300... however there is no such BIOS support for the 7900GS series in that machine (yet... I am still optimistic.. )

Is there any performance difference between the single pipe and dual pipe version?

Will the dual pipe fit the e1705 without modifications?

The modification is so slight it really is not a modification. You just have to break off this little piece of thin plastic that stands in the way of the second heatsink pipe. It's very simple and will not damage your system unless you are an idiot =)

You think that would void the warranty? Is it legal to ask how much Dell is charging for the dual pipe card?

Its Magnesium not plastic and I would be careful making this mod. Magnesium is very brittle and can crack if not handled properly. I would not let this stop me from making this mod, I would just be careful when breaking off the tab on the base.

i just called dell spare parts to check on the price
and the single pipe 7900 was 239 dollars plus about 8 for shipping.

has anyone else gotten a similar price? i ask b/c pricing seems to fluctuate, especially for shipping with different reps.

thanks

oh $230, that's pretty normal price, seems cheap for a great card too. You should ask them for the 7900gtx see if they would sell you one, its like 30-50% faster man...!

How did you manage to get the price of $239? I just contact them & they told me the price for this single pipe 7900 is $362.95, plus a tax of $30.76 & a shipping fee of $9.99, which brings the total to $403.70! I would have snapped one up for my E1705 if I'm able to get the price you get....

Try calling again and before you give any of your info, just straight up ask, "How much is it going to cost?" I kept bothering him with that question, until he finally quoted a price, and then i quickly said, "Thanks, i'll think about it and call back."

Did you really use this method to find out the price? I guess I'll try it again tomorrow.

Just called them & it's the same. No luck. Anyone else able to get it at $239 before tax & shipping?

I'm having trouble finding the number for "dell spare parts" on their site. Can anybody do me a favor and point out where it is, or let me know what it is? I'd like to get myself one of these cards... kind of my birthday present to myself

Thanks, and sorry for the stupid question!

Thank you for the quick reply! I'll have to call them up and make an order on my lunch break.

I ordered my 7900GS today. The price they gave me was $325.50+tax though, not 362.95. Wonder why the price change from yesterday to today? Not that I'm complaining!
