Oh My God I Love Dell! Come see my Scratch & Dent special!

Ordered this last week and just received it this morning:

Dell Inspiron E1405 - Scratch & Dent Special from Dell Outlet
2.0GHz Core 2 Duo
1GB DDR2 667MHz
120GB 5400rpm
14.1" Truelife
Intel Integrated GMA 950
Intel Pro Wireless 3945
Sound Blaster Audigy ADVANCED HD Audio Software Edition
8X DVD+/-RW DL
Genuine Windows XP Home
6 Cell Primary Battery
9 Cell Secondary Battery
Bluetooth Wireless Card

All for $870.16 with free 3-5 day shipping!

Now for what I wasn't expecting:

Absolutely pristine from all angles and sides! Never did I expect to get such an amazing deal on a laptop without sacrificing anything on the condition, especially this being advertised as a scratch and dent special!

The only damage - the little Windows CoA on the bottom, I think I can live with that

You may want to black out your XP key.

Nice machine! Very good condition, same deal as my outlet Precision M70 was.

Oh, but you should edit that last picture out so nobody tries to steal your WinXP Home key.

roger lol...intended to but forgot :P

The picture is too low quality to decipher the product key.

VERY nice deal! Have you reformatted yet?

Well I did have one last picture that was a close-up of the CoA and I intended to edit out the key, but instead simply removed it.

I actually hadn't really intended to reformat it, I did clean out all the excess junk. Is there any real reason to reformat it if I've cleaned it up and don't mind the backup partition?

I just got my scratch and dent this past Monday and am just as happy as you are. I haven't found a single thing wrong it. I would not hesitate on buying another scratch & dent notebook.

I've already reformatted twice. The first time I couldn't get mediadirect to work so I called Dell for help. All they helped me do was to get my computer screen stuck on the same screen no matter how many different things they had me try. The second time that I reformatted, everything went smooth even mediadirect.

why should I reformat? I know they install a lot of bloatware, but what if I've already weeded through that? Do you just reformat because of the partitioning? Thanks in advance.

Sure that is a "Core 2 Duo" and not a Core Duo......the sticker does not reflect a Core 2 Duo???

I'll put it in very simple terms. He got a Centrino Duo sticker because: 1) 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo 2) Intel Pro Wireless 3945 He would have got a Core 2 Duo sticker if he has: 1) 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo 2) Dell Wireless 1390b/g, Dell Draft N Wireless,.......

Yep. I almost was worried when I opened it up and saw that, but a quick look in the System properties, a bios check and cpuz all confirmed I've got a very happy C2D lurking within the beautiful exterior

I know for sure that the system details said Core 2 Duo T2700 too or I wouldn't have ordered it.

I want the Core 2 Duo sticker though, guess I'll have to look around on fleabay or something

He's referring to a closer up picture that I'd intended to edit but instead removed. The one up has been reduced to 25% its original size so you can't discern the number.

Thanks for the compliments though everyone, Dell is the only company I have ever ordered a computer and laptop from (directly, at least, I've purchased a sony vaio from an online store and build my own desktops now) and I have no hesitations for future transactions. There is a reason they are #1

The Windows Xp Sticker on the back of my laptop is rippped in the same way (Brand new) Is that normal? Ripped from the center... why?

i don't know, but I bought mine from the Dell Outlet as a Scratch and Dent special and that is literally the only thing physically wrong with it. I was absolutely amazed.
a laptop I had to return (for other reasons) has the EXACT same rip in the windows XP sticker, and it was supposed to be brand new. I wonder whats going on there.

Some sort of conspiracy?

Did you return an E1405 with my specs? lol
post #17 of 23
nope I returned a E1705 just today, hopefully someone worthy will get it because I treated it nice, unlike the dell people that treated me :-)
XP COA on my refurbished e1705 is ripped from the center also.
my second one is ripped too, same way same place. I bet it has something to do with it snaging on the production line or during shipping or something.

The scratched area on the windows sticker is supposed to be there. It's the same on my 600m and on every other Dell laptop i've seen. So, essentially you got a perfect notebook for a scratch and dent price. Congrats!!
