Possibility of F3Jm (w/ T7200 & WSXGA+) in the US

For a while, I was planning on buying an Asus Z96J, until I discovered the F3Jm last night. After reading the specs on the Asus Global site, I was extremely excited to find a laptop almost the same as the Z96J, but with superior aesthetics (IMHO), a 512MB 7600, and TPM support (BTW: where'd the gigabit ethernet go?). However, after reading further on other sites, I got the impression that Asus has no intention of releasing the models with the T7200 (2GHz, 4MB L2 C2D) and WSXGA+ in the US (possibly even North America). Could someone validate this please (Gentech, MilestonePC, c9tech )

Right, I knew that some of the F3 line is already here, but I specifically wanted to know about the F3Jm model with a T7200, and a WSXGA+ screen. According to the specs on the Asus Global site:

http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1...21&modelmenu=2

the F3Jm will be produced with some of the same specs that are available in a Z96J. I would prefer a F3Jm with those specs over an equivalently configured Z96J, thus I'm trying to find out how I can get one here in the US. Thanks

No plan for US release yet.

My apologies for splitting hairs here, but when you say:

Are you implying that Asus simply hasn't announced a US release date (and they will in the future), or Asus has already decided NOT to release it in the US (both now and in the future)? Thanks.

I am sure they'll put Merom on F3JM in the next shipment, but no plan to release WSXGA+ here in the US, the decision maker is in Taiwan.

Hmm () ...

Next question then:
Is this decision specific to the US, or will they keep the configuration I've mentioned out of Canada too?

Come on, I know there are some Australians out there who have seen this model @ DigitalCity. Can anyone shed any light on the "Premier Partner" or "Retail Model" policy?

Read ArchiNova's posts: http://whirlpool.net.au/forum-replie...fm/608311.html

Is this something where certain models are ONLY released to premier partners, or is it more of a privilege whereby other retailers will be able to sell the same thing, but only after the premier partners do? Also, does Asus designate certain laptops as "Retail Models" and only release them to stores such as DigitalCity (which I imagine is similar to a BestBuy)?

Asus Premier Partners are resellers who have sold a certain number of Asus products and who actively promote Asus. However, this status does not necessarily mean that they have exclusive deals (although it can). The two Asus Premier Partners in the US are ProPortable and Star Tech, so for more info on that designation, you can ask either of them.

Thanks, I'll contact them and see if they can fill in any more details.

Does anyone know what the name of the White book version is? OR is there a white book version we can built out ourselves. Like I built my Z71V off the bare chassis was wondering if I could do the same here.

No white book for this model.... and no intention of bringing over Ensemble's into the BTO market since ASMobile came into play. The Z96Js is the closest you'll get.
