Inspiron 9100 Status?? - Page 5

its 2:30 in the morning, but i can slide in a quick response here to nibble on. I ran 3dmark2003 as one of the first things i installed on my I9100 (after deleting the multitude of non-needed extra crap from dell), and got a benchmark of 3358. I also ran the pcmark2002 and forget the exact score, but i believe it was somewhere in the 9500 range. more reviews of some games here when i get them installed! i did try out some movies and WOW.. looks and sounds AWESOME! i watched half of the matrix and half of terminator 3 before getting on with some other things i had to do. hopefully i'll get some more things accomplished with it soon! lastly, if i can grab my buddy's digital camera, i can take a few snapshots too in a few days.

Anyone received an i9100 in Canada?

I placed an order for my I9100 on 3/22. It shows "in production" but no estimated ship date. Has anyone in Canada placed an order around these dates? by the way it looks, it seems to me that mine will ship sometime between the end of April and the beginning of May (probably of 2005)..
Customer service always tells me that it will ship on April 5 (at first, they seem not to know anything about the delay problem for i9100 and XPS) but then when I explain that there may be a delay, they call someone and get back to me saying that there is a backorder on the screens.. so they just simply add 20 more days to the shipment day.. as easy as that..
Anyone with the same situation???

I9100 P4 2.8GHz, 15.4" WUXGA, 512MB, 128MB ATI 9700, 60 GB 7200RPM, 24x CD/DVD.

Christ, Horsey, you just ordered it and you are already complaining? I ordered my XPS a month before you and still don't have it.

I've been reading on the Dell list though, that they are shipping, and the initial people that got theirs (9100s) were from Canada. I'd imagine that delays are soon to be a thing of the past. If you configure an order now, it doesn't look like there is a delay on batteries anymore.

Is it a cruel April Fools Day joke or did I read that my 9100 actuall shipped!!!
Well finally! It went from three days of boxing (one flap a day) right to shipping today. Now if it only works with no LOCKUPS! I don't think my heart, or patience can take any more delays.

Now just waiting for my 1gig of Giel PC3200 to arrive (2-512mb DIMMs).

Now it shows that its coming by UPS... aahh I can almost taste it!

Anyone else get the same April Fools day update??

Ordered 3/3, Shipped 4/1

I'm in the same boat as you this morning mine went from three days of boxing to beint shipped on April 1st I hope it's not a joke. Ordered my XPS on 3/7 shipped 4/1, and is in Memphis right now with expected delivery tomorrow.

i9100 ordered 3/7 and shipped at 1:45 AM this morning! (early bird)

Tracking number did not show up until about 7PM tonight, but my laptop is somewhere in Illinois or Michigan right now. Expected delivery is tomorrow.

I will try and post pics of it tomorrow when it comes in.

i9100 ordered 3/08, original ship date 3/23, revised ship date 4/20. Shipped late last night, tracking shows it will be delivered tomorrow.

This was not without SIGNIFICANT work on my part to push the date. Full story to follow once the unit is in my hands. Bottom line - you CAN direct dial in to Dell people. I'll tell you how in a bit.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

What shipping method did you choose?

Wow.. all you guys getting tomorrow delivery dates? Did you upgrade the shipping? I just went with the free shipping they offered at the time. I did consider calling them and trying to get next day shipping for all the "pain and suffering" but then I turned around and it had already shipped.
( I was basing it on the estimated 4/20 ship date I got last time)

I ordered the XPS on Febuary 25th! The website now indicates the system has shipped on April 1st to be delivered on 5th - 7th. Better not be a April fools joke.......

I would've cancelled this order if I hadn't got such an awsome deal! The same configuration today would cost $1200 CAD or $900 US more.

I'm right there with you. Ordered XPS 2/25 and says shipped today. Looking forward to the new machine. I was close to cancelling, but my salesperson offered additional money off

Hey! I want additional money off too.... heh, I saved quite a bit of money for placing the order when I did... but, the delays we've experienced are terrible. I want to call them up and ask for a memory upgrade to 1Gig. I just don't have the nerve.....

Congrats! Looking forward to hearing about the "out of the box" experience!

I guess I have to wait until Monday for mine. Trying to get UPS to not deliver until 4:30 so I can be home... Worst case, I get the note that they missed me. I call and have them hold for pickup. No big deal as my 1gig memory is not due until Tuesday also.

Ok now this is killin' me! My system at the local UPS depot about 4 miles from my house! Ahhhhhhrrrrggggg (about .8 miles from my work).
I planned to have them hold it for pick up anyway. I called and was told they have to attempt one delivery (Monday) before I can have it held for pickup (which means Tuesday). It's so close.... I hear its heartbeat!

Ok, let me get a grip. It's a damn computer. I have three desktops in front of me right now and two older laptops.

Ok, the hell with it.. I am calling UPS to see if I can get it! Maybe do a little Splinter Cell action and sneak into the facility... hehehe

Son-of-a-*****!!!!! My system has finally shipped and it's sitting in the ups warehouse not more than 4 miles from my house. So close, but yet so far away! I know it's only a computer, but this month and a half wait is really getting old All I can hope for is going to work Monday and getting my system at 8:30 int he morning. I cheat, the ups warehouse is only 1/4 mile from where I work and the first truck out stops at my work first. I just might have to become suddenly "ill" at about 9:30 a.m. and have to go home for the day If that doesn't work, i'll jst have to say one of my kids is sick and daycare needs to send them home.

If this experience has taught me anything, it's patience.

You will be very happy with the computer. I really enjoy mine, and cannot wait to finish reinstalling my games. I ran Warcraft III on it flawlessly yesterday at the highest settings for 3.5 hours straight and only had the fans come on once or twice. Last night I did a reformat on the hard disk and reinstalled XP and loaded up all my drivers. Just waiting for some time today when I leave work to go home and reload my games, but I could already tell the PC loaded MUCH faster after the reinstall of XP.

Kinda wish I could get a few of those Dell-installed peices of software back on the machine, but I must be missing an application disk. I will call them today about it, but the important thing was just getting the drivers reloaded.

What Dell installed pieces would you want back?

derngt, DJediX

I guess we're all in the same boat ..
I ordered my i9100 on 3/22 and called a customer rep. in Canada and same story..
They say it will "probably" ship around 4/2x ..
If it wasn't because this laptop has good benchmarks and reviews , I would have definitely cancelled and get another brand.. but I guess this is my first and last time I buy from Dell... (Unless of course, they compensate the delay with some huge amount of money off my next purchase )

Hey BBerman.. did you get yours finally?? How is it?

i9100, 2.8 Ghz, 512MB RAM, 128MB Radeon 9700, 60 GB 7200, WUXGA and a bunch of useless software..... CAN$2700..
The moment I finally get it (and make sure it works fine).... Priceless...
