Toshiba P100, Duo Core v. Core 2 Duo, and Hard Drive

I have some questions for those in the know, and I would welcome some open and honest feedback regarding processors, hard drives, and video cards in laptop computers.

I am looking at purchasing either a Toshiba P100-SD8 or a Toshiba P100-MA5. Accompanying the SD8 is a powerful Duo Core processor with a 256 GeForce 7900 GS video card and a 120 GB (5400) hard drive. The MA5 has a Core 2 processor (T7200) with a 256 GeForce 7600 video card and 200 GB (4200) hard drive. The clock speed in both cases is 2.0 GHZ with 2.0 RAM.

My issue with MA5 is that it comes with a lesser video card and a slower hard drive, yet it has a very current and processor, once which is all the rage. The SD8 is perfect for me on many fronts, but I am worried that the processor may lag for certain applications. Last, the hard drive on the MA5 has speed of 4200 RPM, which seems slow, given that most laptops now have 5400 or 7200.

Does anybody have any opinions or ideas on the questions and concerns raised above? I would welcome some advice. Thank you.

Well as you can see in my sig I have the P105-S9312 which is kind of a mashup of both the laptops you talk about. 1st thing I have to say is the 7900GS is a fantastic graphics card and runs virtually all my games on high settings with little to no problems at all. Secondly the only true difference between the Core Duo and the Core2 Duo is that the Core2 Duo is a 64-bit processor meaning it will run things like Vista for 6t4-bit and the few 64-bit applications that are a available now. Also the Core Duo only has 2MB of cache and the Core2 Duo has 4mb cache. Lastly the 4200rpm hard drive is the same one that I have and I really don't notice and difference in load times compared to friends laptops that are running 5400rpm drives as the large platters in the 4200 makes up for some of the seek time. Hope that helps you out.
