I just gave this driver a shot with my EXS and it now is seen correctly as a EXS (not a EX like the original 4.xxx drivers)
As for signal range, it hasn't changed it compared to the other/original drivers I used (4.xxx) but I was getting strong/long range with the older drivers.
And the atheros client is also updated and works better with xp (does not give the unverified driver error).
So far, this seems like a good driver.. I just had to reset/unplug my router before it would connect correctly.

For my AR5006EXS, no.... my wifi light is still not working (but I have both bluetooth and wireless on my E1705 so when one is activated, so is the other, so I go by the bluetooth light... a minor annoyance).

I was not aware anyone made an AR5006EXS. Do you have an Express card that is capable of 108mbs on A band? If so what is the manufacturer and model?

My PCI express card does not have any manufacturer information (bought off of a guy from hong kong).
Windows always saw it as capable of 108mb/s but listed it as a EX until I upgraded to this driver, now it sees it as a EXS and still 108mb/s.
Also, the 108mb/s is on G band, not A band (this card is just capable of a/b/g/super-g)
Unfortunatly my router is only capable of 54mb/s so I cannot test it speed wise.

Poneh, hold on to your horses... muahhhahahahahhhh!!!
I haven't sent mine card back yet so I will try these drivers immediately. Hopefully it fixes it! I will let you know personally.I doubt the wifi light will work as it is controlled by a bios call that doesnt recognize the atheros chipset (yet). I dont care about that light at all. It is just bling to me. Functionality and range come first in my book.

well fast as fast can be... Im back on the atheros card and installed the new client/drivers and guess what! This is the FIRST driver to recognize my card as an EX model instead of just an X. Good sign.... Well see if the dreaded memory parity error returns. It took about 10 min to get the first one last time I tried new drivers. Well see....
*edit* Oh and I have to say that this card is WAAAAY faster than the intel as far as page loading, etc... Very noticeable. I am also picking up all the AP's in my complex now too. If it keeps working, I will try to go to my car and use it. The intel choked at that distance, but the atheros should hit it.

I am having a problem with this 5.0 driver that I didn't have with the 4.x driver.
With Windows XP SP2, if the radio is disabled at the time of boot, when I log into XP, and everything starts to load up, there is a significant (2-3 minute) pause, which I have tracked down to the "workstation service" in XP. It takes 2-3 minutes to start. Once started, everything is fine.
If I manually stop the Workstation service and restart it, it again takes 2-3 minutes to start. If I enable the Atheros radio, the workstation service starts and stops normally.
Can anyone try this on their system with an AR5005 or AR5006 card? Turn off Fn+F2 or use the Atheros GUI utility to disable the radio, then reboot and see how long it takes for Windows to be completely ready after you log in.
(While the workstation service is starting, during the 2-3 minutes, windows explorer responds normally, but running programs or going into Network Properties stalls and waits until the workstation service is started).
Thanks!

I'd say yes.
