XPSM170/7800GTX Heat problems

I have an XPS M170 with a a 7800GTX dropped in, i just pulled it apart to apply some AS5 after having heat issues and it seems to heave done nothing, i realise its still early days but it really seems to have no helped at all. My GPU is overclocked but only a little 440/1250, its at the point where in Company of Heroes im getting as high as 85-90 degrees celcius and it seems to be possibly making the game crash (or so the theory on the relic forums goes). Additionally im using I8kFanGUI to manage my fans, i have the latest, V3 Beta 7 and im running forceware 91.31 from laptopvideo2go, my problem with this is that it seems the forceware typically reports my temp to be 10 degrees higher then the FanGUI meaning that ingame im possibly peaking at 100 degrees

Does anybody have any ideas because it shouldnt be like this...

have you blasted your fans and heatsinks with caned air to get rid of dust bunnies?

Yeah i just applied the AS5 a couple days ago so while i was in there i made sure to blow the fans and and cooling fins out as well as possible.

If you search a bit around here, i think that is normal temp for that card.

I have been looking, theres a few threads on it, i think its a tad above normal id like to try and drop it some more, my main concern is the lock ups in company of heroes, ive gone from 51 wins and 3 losses to 51 wins and 6 losses from disconnects which annoys me im hoping the locks are not temperature related, i read in the relic forums its happening to a few people but for a couple it was temp related, i guess time will tell though.

Do you prop your laptop up? You can have a fan blow at the GPU intake vent as well, that helped me with a few degrees. Also, go to the Overclockers guide, and in there, theres a post about someone who modified his 7800 heat sync.

85-90C for a high end game is normal. You could try turning down all settings and resolution so the card is not working so hard. It will lower the temp and you could see if it still crashes. You could also try running a memory test and see if you get any memory errors.

My 7800GTX runs fine at over 90C, the really demanding games cause it to throttle back at over 100C, but the worst that happens is the game gets a little choppy - no crashes.

I'd suspect bad ram or driver conflict if you haven't cleaned out your older drivers when upgrading to the lapvideo2go diver.
