Now [Oct. 26th] until March 15th, 2007, if you purchase an ASUS notebook with Windows XP you can upgrade to Windows Vista for FREE!
Below are some details on the program... you can also download the full PDF flyer here.

As you can see, WinXP Home will not be free, but I imagine the upgrade price will be lower than that of a retail one.

EDIT: New ASUS Upgrade Page Now Available: https://upgradeweb.moduslink.com/vista/Asustek/

Enjoy!

I'm assuming that the "exchange rate" is set in stone, but you can always contact the 3rd party handling this promotion [in the info above].

Thanks c9tech, I've sent them an email, let's lope they reply Heh, heck I'd be happy being able to upgrade to Ultimate for a discount.

Hello,

Is the Vista upgrade DVD going to require the previous version of Windows during install. I mean is this just an upgrade DVD or is this a full version of Vista like the retail version?

TIA

I'm not exactly sure... I guess they didn't make that clear.
You should be able to contact them with the information in the flyer.

?! What happened?

It asked for all my info (Serial Number, COA, etc. Seemed pretty damn authentic). It said that it was going to be like 6 bucks for the shipping, and I put in my credit card information, it said authentication failed. I then logged onto my bank account and saw my account, every time I press the submit button, even though it says that it failed, 6 dollars gets drained out of my account. It might be a bug, but it seems like a scammish thing to do...

Never mind what I said, the site was just having an error the first time I used it.

okay, glad it didn't take your money and run!
