Long time reader first time poster!

Hey all, just a quick thanks for all the great reads and opinions that led me to building my first laptop barebones. The Clevo 5760 is all that i hoped for, and installing the core 2 duo, 2gigs ram, wireless card and dvd burner was easier than the last desk top i built.

I will be adding a custom carbon fiber vinyl to help protect my new baby and hope to show pictures soon.

Vista RC2 5744 loaded quick and i am enjoying it, but...

i cannot seem to load any 64 bit nvidia drivers for the 7900 go gtx...

right now it is stuck as a standard vga adapter....

also any idea of some webcam drivers?

thanks all

cheers.

Atm. there aint any 64x drivers for the webcam, and according to Sertek there wont be one developed. The 7900 go you can get directly from Nvidia.com, and it works. My vista RC2 lagged with a 5 sec lag with my 6800 go but on my desktop with 5800 ultra it also had the lag problem. This bug was first discovered in 5342 i think that was the build name, and now it has returned, but the drivers do work otherwise and another thing. My vista takes 10x longer to load than my XP on both machines aswell.

bad news on the webcam,

I dled the newest 64 bit drivers, but they refused to install. The error was that there was no hardware supported...?

any ideas?

the speed is so much better than my xp machine i can't even tell you... the boot up is easily 75% shorter...

but with the hardware jump thats what i expected...

thanks

Not to threadjack, but where are Vista 32bit drivers for the webcam? I've had no luck with them.

Also, to the OP: Where are you getting the vinyl from, and how much is it costing you?

FYI, stormie, my Sager 9860 with 32bit only CPU uses a plain Go6800 also; the RC2 native 32bit Vista provided nvidia drivers work fine on my machine as is, with aero enabled by default, no lag, no need to find different drivers.

Also, is your Sager using the native Vista RC2 promise sata378 driver? If so, that would explain why your HD runs 10x slower. Replace it with the XP promise driver and you will notice greatly improved performance.

The Vinyl wasn't cheap... but if you want i'll sell some of it on ebay in precut shapes and stickers,

So noone with any help on the 7900 go rc2 64 bit drivers? Anyone?

I have RC1 and tried to install an upgrade to RC2 and it said the upgrade was disabled because is couldn't do a staged upgrade to a non-staged version. I thought Vista install process for all versions was staged. I didn't try a clean install but a co-worker was doing one when I left work.
