U think the XPS and 9100 can handle HL2?

Hey, I am an avid gamer but need something portable. Been using a Shuttle for the past 6 months but getting tired of all its problems.

I really want to get a 9100 or XPS but I am worried it may not be able to play games 1 year down the line. Anyone know if the likes of Half Life 2 or Doom3 will run on these machines without too many problems or graphic compromises?

I may just w8 till after summer to get a laptop instead of now, but I really want one now. Just don't want to waste my money on a gaming laptop that can't play the latest games.

Now I know no1 has these games to test, but someone must have some clue.

The XPS can't handle any current game without overheating and locking up after 5 minutes of play... at least that's the deal since I got mine yesterday.

well mhy 8600 runs doom 3 and hl2 alphas perfectly fine cept some glitches that a full version will fix, so i will say yes
