How do you like the WSXGA+ (1680x1050) display on the E1505?

Thread Starter
In particular:
- do you find text too small for programming? (I find my 19" desktop monitor w/ 1280x1024 display comfortable)
- how does it compare to HP's brightview displays?

All I could dig up was this worrisome thread on the display having a low angle of view (though I suspect it's because the person complaining got a crappy SEC screen which HP owners hate too :-)

Although I do not personally own one, I've used my friends, and I'm quite impressed. I previously had a Dell Inspiron 9100, which featured a 15.4 running at that res., but was also super bright. I personally find the resolution perfect for everything, especially coding. The more code I can see on a screen at one time, the better.

I have had the WSXGA+ on both of my Dell Laptops, first with my 8600 and now with my E1505, I really like it...The Text is perfect in my opinion, I get nothing but compliments on my laptop with this screen, Spreadsheets, Video editing screens, Movies and Games all look awesome on the WSXGA+...

A guy I know has one. He was watching a movie on it when I saw the screen. Absolutely beautiful. Wish my 600m had that screen.

i love it... so much nicer than huge ass text on lower res screens..... at first you might not like it but oyu get used to it!

When I first got it had some strange angled lines, but after a week or so of use I suppose it "burned in" and now it looks simply amazing. I love the resolution.

i got it on my E1505, my first impression was the text was a little too small for my liking, mostly because the computer i had previously was runnin 1024x768...eh. the text took literally 5 mins to get used to. the only neg i could say is the trulife gloss display is brutal in outdoor sunny conditions. other than that, the extra real estate is AWESOME for multitasking and watching movies. great for gaming too (BF2)

I do a lot of work on my laptop and the screen real-estate is great! I couldn't go without it.

I have windows vista on it, just change the DPI setting to 120, and you are in business. ALl the icons look sharp.

It "feels" more natural" at 120dpi

i GOT THE DEAL WITH THE 2GHZ CORE2DUO and the 2gb ram... man this thing flies.............

but back to the screen, the screen is beutiful. I must have gotten a very good panel. very little backlight "bleeding", no dead pixels, and its very bright. Just needed to adjust the gamma levels. Wish i had one of those "spyder" tools to calibrate it. It is truly awesome

I haven't been very happy with my display since i gotten it last monday, but now reading your guys reviews i wonder if mine will "burn in" after a few more days or if i got a bad one!!

I like my screen. However, after 12 hours at work, and i'm half asleep, it gets hard to focus on. Other than that it's great. I can see it standing direclty beside the laptop, i don't have any angle problems, and it's as bright as it can be.

Hm, how does WoW run in wsxga native resolution (1680 x 1050); is it crisp and smooth or butchered, slow, and choppy? I'm thinking about picking up a 1505 soon with 1 gb of ram and the x1400, but it be nice to hear some comments and opinions in (in-game WoW) performance before buying.

SMOOTH!!! I just got my laptop with 2.00ghz, 1gig ram, x1400 256mb, wsxga, I'm a wow-er too! and I ****ing love it! i have everyone on high settings and I'm getting 20fps.. medium settings 50fps O_O;..

GET IT!

Haha, niccce! I just ordered one with the same specs (1.8 ghz exception), so that's great news to hear! Now to re activate account when lappy arrives

I have that screen and I like it, but text is too small on Internet Explorer. I switched to FireFox where I can adjust the text size larger. Note, I'm 35 now, so text starts to get a little bit harder to read.
