HP pavillion ze 1000 series recovery

Hi all I am trying to use my recovery discs to do a clean install on my HP but unfortunatley the DVD/CDROM
player has gone faulty.
What I would like to do is boot from a external USB drive but there are no options in the bios for this only
boot from

1 cdrom/dvd (internal)
2 A diskette
3 internal lLan
4 HDD

Any advice would be great

either another optical drive or try to perform an install via network, i believe however that for recovery, u do need an optical drive (could be wrong on this one)
