Hi,

i just bought a ACER ASPIRE 5051AWXMi and sometimes i hear a "click" sound coming from my hard drive.

Since i just bought it, is it normal? Or should i be concerned about the conditions of the HD?

It this a single click. Or a constant click when the drive is running?

Sometimes its periodical, each period consisting of 10-15s , and sometimes it doesnt make the sound.

The laptop is 4 days old!

The HDD access causes that sound, but sometimes i cant hear it. EERRRR

Any thoughts?

It doesn't sound right to me, unless this is a budget laptop (£350-£400), in which case they always cut corners to save costs.

The problem with these intermittent problems is that you can send the machine off for service and get it back with the same problem not fixed. Personally I would keep it a bit longer to see if it fails. If it's loud and annoying, and you really can't stand it, then I would call Acer support.

The laptop was around £500. It has very good hardware for the price it was. I bought it because my last one gave its last breath a couple os days ago.

Had to by something cheap and quick.

Hope i didn't make a mistake :/

The HDD has 120GB capacity. I'll wait a bit more time to see what happens.
