Hi there,
I recently reinstalled windows xp on my sager 9860. I was going throguh the driver installation process and somehow i couldn't manage to install the video driver. I have and Nvidia video card, its the GO 6800. I downloaded the drivers from the sager website. When i try to run the setup application for the Nvidia drivers i get the following message. "The Nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit." I've tried to install different drivers both from the sager and nvidia website, but nothing works and i always get the same message. If I go to the device manager there is a yellow icon on the vga controller. Anyways as you might have noticed im not very good at this stuff!!! Any help?
Here are my system specs

17" WSXGA+ (1680 x 1050) Active Matrix Wide Screen Display (Glossy Screen)
3.0 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 HT (PLGA775) Processor w/ 1MB cache
256MB Dedicated nVidia Video GO 6800 Graphics Card (upgradable) 16x PCI-Express
60 GB Hard Drive (7200 RPM) .
1024 MB DDR SDRAM (533 MHz, PC-4200, Dual Channel) (2 x 512 MB) .

Strange, assuming that your system worked fine before your re-install, the Sager drivers should have worked. I assume the device isn't somehow disabled... you can check this in the control panel. Although the Sager drivers should have worked, the error message you got is to be expected as a result of trying to install the nvidia drivers since nvidia does not support the Go6xxx series in their drivers. Nvidia relies on the manufacturer (in our case Sager) to provide the drivers. I can think of several possibilities:

1. You hosed your install somehow. When I re-install Windows I always do a fresh format first, which is good to do for several reasons.

2. Your Sager driver download is corrupt.

3. You attempted to install the drivers in the wrong order.

Download the Sager drivers again, you should probably make sure you use the 9860 drivers and not the 9890 ones. Then try reformatting and re-installing, make sure you install the drivers in the order given in the Sager manual. If none of this works then maybe try re-inserting the GPU card into its slot. If you do this, you should take the opportunity to clean the old goop off the heatsink and GPU and re-apply new compound. Use an anti-static strap.

Hey Starclub thanks a lot for your help. It turned out that the Sager guys didn't tell me that they had changed the video card on my last RMA. I have the ATI Radeon x800 so that's why the Nvidia drivers weren't working. I appreciate your help and I'm glad that there are kind people in this forum.
Thanks!!!

They shouldn't have done that. For people who multi-boot, the proper choice of hardware can make a difference. Glad you got it sorted out though.
