Macbook Pro Airport/WIFI Issues

Hey,

I'm having some problems with my Macbook Pro that I purchased directly from Apple onlone three months ago. When I search for a WIFI network, my Macbook Pro only picks up one or two, as opposed to about ten to fifteen that my three - year old Dell picks up. Moreover, whenever I find myself downstairs and my router is upstairs, I usually drop my signal, whereas every other notebook in the house seems to be able to keep the signal at the 'Good' signal strength. Also, lately, whenever I come out of 'sleep' mode, I have to turn my Airport on/off to make it reconnect to my router. Sometimes I even have to restart the computer a few times. Does this happen to all Macbook Pro's or am I having Airport issues?

I have tried disabling/re-enabling IPV6 and have also tried different routers, but the problem still persists. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

sometimes my signal will be great one floor down from my router across the house. sometimes less than 1bar. this is in my macbook.

odd, the computer never moves, there are no other wireless devices in house, and the microwave has dust on it (not really, but you get the point)

wierd how these new airport cards just dont seem up to the task. i also have many many networks i can see from my other laptop. the mb sees them "sometimes" and sometimes only 2 out of 10!
