I'll begin by offering my apologies to anyone I've come down on in the past as I've defended Dell. I was wrong...you were right! In just a couple of weeks, my 8600 experience has gone from fantastic to dreadful. I won't rehash my problems with my 8600, again. You can read my posts elsewhere for the lowdown. As I read the messages from those who've invested a lot of $$ into the XPS, only to find that it, too, is apparently riddled with defects, I'm firmly resolved never to buy another Dell. Their customer service is clueless and uncooperative. Once the 30-day return period expires, Dell's interest in satisfying the customer expires and you're left with a computer that doesn't do what you were told it would. I strongly advise those of you who are having problems with the new XPS to return it for refund and look elsewhere for a good notebook. I'll be buying a Sager 8790 when it's available with a WUXGA screen. Until then, I'll use my 8600 as best I can, 'cuz it's headed for eBay as soon as I get an 8790 on my desk.
