where can i find the 7950GTX where is it sold?!!
i really would like to buy one for my 7700 cause i was thinkong of buying 7900gtx & my 6800 sucks

the 7950 is practically a 7900 OCed, so if you have the 7900 512mb then it really isn't worth upgrading

*considering that dell is offering the 7950 for around 50 bucks more, pretty much states that there are really no "physical" differences between the 7950 and 7900 (mobile versions)

-since you have the 7700, I'm sure that it already produces an enormous amount of heat...and OCing your gpu ie. 7950 will probably increase it significantly

Do you mean i should consider getting the 7900GtX 512 instead of 7950GTX 512 ?
post #4 of 21
yes, b/c you won't literally see any difference, and there are current Dell members who have OCed their 7900's past 7950 speeds...

but since you are running a P4, OCing the GPU really wouldn't be anything notciable in game play...specially w/ the added risk of overheating

I would get it, just because I would hate to have to OC every time I wanted to benchmark. It is suppoesed to get 9750+ in 3dmark05. WITHOUT OCing. That's on par with dual 7900 GS's.

i talked with RJtech
& they said that 7950 might be offered next WK as a single card
now they sell it in full D900T system
it's wait & see now
but i'm really considering it an A+ Card
what kind of score do i excpect with card like this?
i got 3.8Ghz 2Mb cash & 3Gb 533Mhz ram & 2X60Gb hards Raid0 7200
if i added this card {7950} what scores should i get?
now i have these scores with my 6800 256Mb DDR2
3D Mark 6 ---> my card can't run all the tests
3D Mark 5 ---> 4083
3D Mark 3 ---> 9451
3D Mark 1 ---> 15928

Omagian, did you ever get the 7950GTX 512MB? if so, how is it running? hot or ok? I've replaced my mobo because the original died so I was thinking of doing buying the 7950 to replace the 6800. Any thoughts on whether it's too hot for the system based on your experience?

i got the
7900 GTX 512
the 7950 is just an overclocked version of 7900 with overheating issues
7900GTX 512 is runing like heaven

new scores

3D Mark 6 ---> 3675
3D Mark 5 ---> 7185
3D Mark 3 --->16428

I don't believe the 7950go will go over 8k in 3DMark05 at stock settings, it's basically an overclocked 7900. Dell downclocks the 7950 in their laptops due to heat, so it's essentially a very minorly overclocked 7900.

I'd play it safe and go with the 7900 as it's known to work well in the 7700.

hmm, Omagian I'm looking at your old 3Dmark05 scores and it seems that your better ram and P4 and same graphics card as mine got a lower score than me. My ram is only 233 MHz and check my sig for the other details. Somehow I scored 5130.

i know my scores are little low
but mostly it's due to drivers
the new drivers give low scores in 3Dmark but higher frame rate in games
