I just purchased a Toshiba Satellite P15-S409. I'm trying to upgrade it from XP home to XP pro. I have the Ful version of XP pro but after selecting upgrade, copying system files and rebooting, I select the option to continue with the XP pro upgrade and all I get is a black screen. The pc simply hangs and does nothing. I've tried a clean install from scratch(booting to the XP pro Cd) but all it does is load drivers then sit at the blue screen where it says please wait, windows is starting. there seems to be something within the partition blocking the upgrade. Unfortunately I don't have a floppy so I can't even use a win98 start up disk. Is it possible that this model is not ugradeable? I've cotacted Toshiba and all the can do is tell me they don't support XP pro on that model. Any help? thanks!
