And, of course:

Can you buy them separately from Dell?

OK Zyb you are Sooooooooooooo tempting me. I have 2 of the T7600G's sitting here in boxes sealed and I have been toying with keeping one, but I have to sell my damn M90 first

oh this soooooooooooo sucks. Soooooooooooo sucks

Nothing melted at 3.16 the fans are always on thought... I'm getting ready to run some cpu bench's and see what i get..

Ok! Who is ready to mod the M1710 BIOS for the E1705?!
Would have expected mor points with a G version @ 3,16 Ghz and the 7950GTX, maybe ocing the card a little bit more could take you above the 11k

Nice work Zyb. Did you OC via the BIOS or an application?
Wow, zyb, how did you OC it? I thought the controls were locked?

Its a setting in the BIOS that becomes unlocked if you have a T7600g.

Hey man, you'd be my best friend if you figured out how to do that. Then again, I've only got a T7200 E1705 so the CPU would be locked in mine...
Then again someone could work out how to overclock the FSB

I still can't get over the notion of the M1710 operating at 3.16GHz... that's pretty darn impressive.

But *how do you get hold of one???*

In my opinion every CPU can be overclocked but for all software overclocks you need the pll of the motherboard ... I'm talking about software overclocking cause I think will not allow ocing with other CPUs, but the G version...

In theory this should work but we went through this on the Gen2/9300/M170 and we could never get an overclock. We had the PLL model and everything and it was still a no go. I'm not sure anyone has tried this on the newer M1710/M90/9400.

The overclocking is done via the bios. Once the t7600g is in the system the bios option becomes enabled.

2.83 is definately the sweet spot the fans only come on as needed. When the proc is set to 3.0 and 3.16 the fans are on always on high. Even with the fans on high the proc will hit 80c and throttle when under a load.

Many many thx Zyb!!! The 3DMark05 result with OCing CPU, but what speed are u running on 7950GTX? Is it also OC??
It all sounds impressive running @3.16ghz but i think running the processor at 80C is something i might just give a miss too. The gain in cpu performance is not that great to justify running the laptop that hot.
Ok you may see a increase in encoding applications etc.
Overrall thanks for sharing and showing some stat's Zyb

I ran performance test 6.0 on the CPU with 4 threads. Here are the result.

T7600g@2.33 ghz 4 threads

T7600g@3.16 ghz with 4 thread

The CPU only hits 80c if it a 100% utilization (constant) for games and stuff your fine.

Enjoy

That's reeeally impressive. Thanks zyb.

Who do I have to bribe to get one?

Looking good. How do we get this BIOS (1710) on the M90?
