M1710 T7600G Processor ID/Issues? - Page 5

Well guys I did it

my M90 is sold (sad to say it but I love that laptop)

But I could not in all good conseince (I can spell) leave that T7600G sitting here in the box unloved and unwanted.

+ I really really really wanted a merom processor and a 7950 GTX.

I am getting to remove the bloatware on this thing now. (I am just not real clear on how to do a reinstall and keep media direct 3 working)

DANG those fans blow loud when its running at 3.16

yes the brother did say 3.16

talk ta da hand baby

its all about the GHZ

Yip, at 3.0 and 3.16 the fans are on high always.. I dropped back to 2.83 so the fans on come one as needed.

yeah I dropped it back too I didn't check to see which it would run at low temps on, Hell I am still in the process of migrating off of my M90.

I'm enjoying mine too... after making sure it could do 6k in 3dm2006 and over 10K in 3dm05, I backed down a bit on the clocks. It's still a really fast machine, and it's now nearly silent.

I know what you mean, at 3.16 I have NEVER seen apps open so fast and I am talking about bloated slow apps like MS Outlook.

these things scream. I have mine at 2.83 now but its nice to know there is some headroom.

and for those of you looking to buy the chips the only thing I can say is call intel but I can assure you that the T7600G's will be listed at $1000

I think given a little while I'll AS5 the CPU and videocard, giving a little more thermal headroom as well... I've got the thing running vmware workstation with another fully kitted XP session for some legacy software dev, it doesn't even break a sweat.

not in a dell laptop....

it's very easy to overclock if you're using a desktop MB that supports mobile processors, though...

boo i was all set to pick up a t7200 but my bleeding edge urge won't let me now!
Snoopyduke, did you get your issue sorted with the T7600G ?
I have the same problem...I cannot find where it specifies G...but email me...I have seen where you can raise the clocking speed..in the Setup....I moved it up..and then got scared that I was doing something I shouldn't, so I moved it back to 2.33..but I had the option of moving it to 3.16....my email is strumph3@gmail.com

If you were able to raise the speed to 3.16 you have the T7600g. Raise it to 2.8 and enjoy. I wouldn't go above 2.8 because your fans will run full speed at all times.

I just bought this processor for my Clevo m570u, would I have to flash with Dell bios to enable the OC'ing?

I think your Clevo came with the T7600, not the T7600G. The "G"s are *only* sold by dell, and it overclocks only through the Dell BIOS. The Dell BIOS surely would not work on your system in any case. For the others here: T7600G *can* be bought at http://it-premier.de

No its came with T7200 but I bought T7600G from german retailer.
So basically I bought an overclockable processor, which cannot be overclocked as I NEED the dell bios??
