That's right. my card can't even do 600 core without acting up. It can do 750 mem, but it also starts acting up. Currently I'm running 575/650 just to be safe.

After determining the max clocks I undervolted the card to run at 0.85v 2D, 0.9v thr and 0.95v 3D. It even runs NFS Carbon stable.

You SOLD it to me!

LOL just kidding Its a great card man. Just odd it dont reach up there everyone else is in the v600c800's.

I think with a Score of 9216 in 3dmarks with a 7900GS in not bad at all I will post everything so I can get listed in the front page. I currently backed off to the 610c715.rom and ran Ati-tool for 10min to see 0 Artifiacts. (Played DAOC for about 8hours with the help of a Beer) Compaired to what this laptop used to be my old spec where.

Intergrated Mobo
C1 1.66Ghz
1GB 533 DDR2

Upgraded to:

C2D T7200 2.0Ghz
2GB Cosiar 667 DDR2
Upgraded bottom case for with New MOBO w/ FANS
7900 GS (From nissanztt90)
130 Watt AC Adaptor

So as you can see I really cant complain not much more I can upgrade. Anyways let me post the Screenshot so I can get put on the Front page. Thanks Again.

Here are 2 Screen Shots the 9505 is one that was pretty good but only allowed me to play 2 hours before locking up that was a clock of 650/750.

Hah i know i remember. Your lucky, i think theres something fishy with my mother board because even at 600/600 all i got at best was like 8300 or so in my pc. My GTX only goes up to 600/700 when some are doing 650/750.
okay wel ive reached my happy limit, im on the v600c800.rom
have to keep the fans on high while playing games to maintain max 81 degrees. Im using latest drivers on laptop website, and ive done that mod to edit ini file to add the powermizer line, also have gone into nvidia control panel and disabled powermizer option (so throttling can be done) according to ati tool i am running 100/100 when using desktop, the only sad thing is idle at 70 but i guess nothing can be done about that..

Strange!!

Tried the 97.02 with the same mod in ini. Throttels perfectly.

This is what it looks like:

I had to disable and reenable it to get it to work.

Other than that no problem.

So far I've just tried two drivers, 91.52 and 97.02 both works with this mod.

Hey, I found this thread a little while ago and decided to do this BIOS flash, and everything is working very well except for one thing that I hope someone can help with.

I don't know if I'm missing something, but I'm using the 615c825.rom and according to ATI tools, have no artifcats, so I plan on pushing it a bit further, finding the limit, then pulling back down. However, according to ATI Tool and RivaTuner, the clockspeeds are not throttling down when in 2d mode, and thats keeping my card relatively toasty (62ish Degrees Celsius) when only web browsing and such. So if anyone can offer any suggestions as to how I should fix this issue, please post back.

well you can allways change drivers, try the driver mod posted before to anable powermizer on some drivers and set the settings to to throttle down, even then i am amazed the limits of your card, push it a bit harder and you may even own this thread with your super score, i think you have the best posibilities for breaking the 10k limit (wich i think is a myth)

By the way, y updated the score board.

I think that too, even 850 as artifacting in nvidia always has been first caused by over-overclocked core instead of memory.

Runs pretty well in my WXGA with everything full. It's a nexgen game but the horizon is always close so it benefits from that.

Yes, with I8kfangui at full, after 2 hours of NFSCarbon mine gets to 82-83c. I guess my thermal paste is properly applied. The fact that ATITool always seem to show higher temps is always debated, some say its Artifact Scanner is one of the most intensive tasks to the GPU (which I highly doubt even when it doesn't show all the calculations the GPU is doing), and some say it's got an incorrect temp thresold as you said. I think that too.

Have to save the file to the desktop then MOVE it, Vista Security still will not let you save to the directory directly.

Reboot.

GTX is still displayed.

reason? - originally there are 4 files in the C:\\Windows\\System32\\DriverStore\\FileRepository\ v_DM.inf_***** directory. Upron reboot, it seems there is a HASH check using SHA1. A new file is created in the directory at this point called nv_dm.PNF ( Precompiled Setup Information )

You may also see a file called Component.man. This is an .xml file and is where I found the references to the SHA1 hash check.

Stock Vista RC2 Driver

I have replaced the hash for the FileName=nv_DM.inf with the publicly available hash from hash tools and no luck.

no more time today to mess with it, maybe one of you who are wiser than I can figure this one out.

laters.
INFO for ya
Are you the Owner of the folder too besides adding the permissions? Vista is really a PITA to use at least the beta (and with the infamous TrustedInstaller user). I think the real way to get full control of a folder/file is: Make Administrators the Owner, close properties window, reopen and then set Full Control. If you have Full Control but aren't the Owner Vista won't let you overwrite/delete anything.

I only edited the ones in the ISOS from the cd on this thread. I can't see vids as NiBiToR can't connect to some service, I'm in Vista right now. But it's easy, you look for the 0.85v vid and set it to 0.8v in voltages tab. The other two are as they were, 1.00 and 1.24.

Might try 1.27v but only for benchmarking. That way I think my card can run 675/875, with 1.24v artifacts a lot, almost runs 3dk05 but then it crashes somewhere in the Firefly. And it's not temp as ATITool logger never records more than 86c.

If I get the time I will make an "ISO suite" with all the modifications.

If you could get 600 instead 625 core (less) and 800 instead 725 (more) I tell you you'll get 9600 at most. Core clocks are much more important than memory speeds. To get 10k in a 9400 you need either >675/>875, a real GTX/Quadro 2500 or overclock the CPU (which currently can only be done changing the mobo's PLL oscillator as the pinmod doesn't work in 945 boards).

With this I mean you're better with 625/725 than with 600/800 IMHO.

P.D. sorry for such a large post, many days w/out reading this thread
post #573 of 1054
Alright, so after messing with different clock speeds I think I've found some stable settings to run with, after crashing at v645c845, I brought things down to 615c850, then back up to 600c875. I think I'm going to keep it somewhere around 615c850.

I also managed to get the GPU to throttle down when on Battery and when in 2d Mode, so things are running cool now, staying idle around 50 degrees celsius, getting up to 80C when running 3dmark05.

I've noticed my scores are a bit lower than other people with comparable and even lower clock speeds, and I'm wondering what could be doing it. My best score on 3d05 is 8924 with 600/875(1750), and with fully stable is 8890 at 615/850(1700). Any tips on breaking the 9k barrier or better would be appreciated. I think it might be my CPU bottlenecking the system, since the GPU is so highly OC'd at this point. Although I didn't think 3dmark05 accounted too heavily for CPU performance; It might also be the drivers, currently using Dell's 84.69.
There's surely something wrong with your CPU, as 1m15s 1M Superpi is not usual even for a Yonah 2400. You should get much less, I get 26-27s with a Core 2 Duo 2Ghz. It's faster, but not that much.

Maybe you have a lot of services, like antivirus, themes (windowblinds, iconpackager, etc), p2p programs, messenger etc?

And I think most of the scores you've seen in this thread are done with Core 2 Duo CPUs, so you can't compare.
Are you sure about that? From the benchmarks I've seen a T2400 at 1.83 GHz should be getting around 1.14-1.18 in Superpi. And I turn off most things that steal CPU cycles before benchmarking.

Edit: Oh, I see, you misread my Sig. My Superpi time is for 2M digits, not 1M. Lol, I would definitely Agree that 1:15 is horrible for 1M.
@Final_spirit:

Your CPU is just fine. SuperPi 2m takes 1m19s for my T2400. So you`re even 3s ahead

You`re absolutely right about your benchmark results. The reason for your lower score, compared to those 9xxx guys, is the the CPU. Replace it with a powerful Merom and you will gain several hundred points.

I brought down the temperature of my GPU by installing Nvidia`s 84.63 driver instead of the Dell srock driver. The GPU runs about 3 degrees cooler now.

the problem is that you are using some driver settings that lay the perfonace back, ne sure no to usse AA or AF during the test

That's not the problem, I made sure to turn them both off before testing. Still haven't broken the 9k mark which is somewhat dissapointing.

Could be because have Core Duo @ 1.83 instead of a Core 2 which most of the high scorers seem to have!
