7900GS + GTXBios = 7900GSX - Page 4

i found it, and moved the bar from quality to performance... i got no improvement on atitools whatsoever...
uhmm, with 3dmk05 or 3dmk06 and performance settings i can obtain a better score.

so by flashing the bios with the gtx one, the way you insert roms is different as well right? how come the gtx doesnt say like v6001200.rom? y cant it go that high? sry i dont understand how its different?
ok let me see then, but it dissapoints me that the 7900gs outperforms the quadro fx2500... and im dissapointed as well with the fact that i have to play at medium quality and lower resolution with new games... im starting to worry a bit...

Also, the final score depends on the settings in your NVIDIA control panel. For instance, if IMAGE SETTINGS option is turned on HIGH PERFORMANCE rather than HIGH QUALITY, the score will improve. Perhaps when posting resultsm one can specify one's settings.
This work just like a driver tweak, so its not being taken into account, different drivers have different perfomance settings for those standard settings, so selecting with the dell drivers "high performace" could be the same as selecting "high quality" with the XGM drivers.

Is just a namming differnece so people know tha is a GTX bios and not a GS bios, For the GS BIOS 600/1200 means the same as 600/600 and for the GTX bios 600/800 means 600/1600 UPDTAES DONE TO THE GUIDE WITH THE ABOVE INFORMATION INCLUDING A NIBITOR GUIDE! PLEASE MAKE THIS THREAD A STICKY!

good job on this guys, makes me even more upset that my more expensive card won't overclock at all and ur cheaper cards are beating my 3d mark score by 2000 points

excellent post. always looking for a way to get better performance from my 7900gs. 1 thing i notice was that i thought the naming would be gsx and not gtx? i reflash w/ the new gsx bios and now my system sees it as a gtx. no biggie. also wow, this new bios is weird. maybe because of lower latency or something? but before, my highest oc w/ the gs bios was 525/550 ( i know a crappy card) but now im at 550/625 and still going w/ this new bios. im testing my card w/ atitool btw. weird huh?

pretty sure thats cause GSX is a made up name, it says GTX because it thinks your card is a GTX with the bios

ok, so after ocing my card to 625/750... i have to say that i have had an inprovement of about 30fps on ati tools, 450 to 480... need for speed carbon at 1600x1200 maxed settings gets like 15-20 fps... is this suppose to happen? if i lower de resolution to 1280x1024 i get 20-25... wtf!?
Make sure your CPU is staying throttled correctly in games. My speedstepping software started acting up and games performed poorly. Im using Notebook Hardware Control to monitor and control CPU throttling now and it works great.
should i put a gtx bios on my quadro card?, im using speedswitch, i made sure it was on high performance, since if it was put on dynamic switch the fps on ati tools were around 380... im pretty upset that my new gaming laptop can only provide me with 15fps on nfs carbon...

A few questions.

Does flashing to the gts bios provided on this thread up the voltage to 1.24v

and

If I run it at 1.24v how will my 90w psu be? It seems that a lot of people are using only standard 90w psu, but do I really risk having an issue. Also, how much does it curve battery life running at 1.24v?

Thanks!
Ben

OK guys I'm frankly F%$%^n amazed - I still can't belive the difference in the 3D mark 05 score I just got.

I flashed with the new bios yesterday and ran at 600/1600 (800) on the new bios and got an OK score of around 7800 which is OK but not really stunning. I ran ATI for 5 min only cos it was getting late at wrok and I had to get home so 5min not artifacts.

So this morn I decided to crack it up a notch to 610/1600 (800) as the temps at 600/1600 were fine hitting on ATI tools about 75 deg (yes 10 deg offset in i8fangui)

So this am I re-run the 3D mark 05 just to see what it would do the extra 10 - and holy s&^%T I hit a wopping 9199 - yes thats right 9199 now the CPU score is in this but I've got the T2600 2.16 not C2D.

I will run the ATI tool now just to see where it stands if this is stable or just some fluke but I still can't belive this score!!! - Temps on the 3D run hit a peak of 67 deg - this was only a one hit run so I know you can't really take this for anything.

Will re-post once I get temps on this clock but guys - well done I'm stunned on how this bios works and I still kinda think it was a fluke

Edit - OK bit confused now - running ATI tools does give me some random dots in the top 1/3 of the display yet tells me there are no errors - the temp is only at a peak of 75 deg???. The rolling 3D model looks free of any dots yet the scan seems to show them. what gives???
The temp offset should be 8 degrees, not 10.

i just got mine setup at 600/850 working great, getting alot more fps in company of heros and day of defeat, must be at least 15fps more at least.
i hate u all, noone can help me with my problem? how many fps do u get at need for speed or scarface at 1600x1200 and maxed settings?!!?
Anyone with the idea of voltage? Does updating the bios to this gsx version up the voltage? And is this safe to use with the 90w psu?

OK. Here are my results:

3DMARK05 (1024x768)
9581 - crimsontwo - 9400 / 2GB 533/ WUXGA / Single / XGM 91.47 / 90W / 600c800 / 1.24v / GTX BIOS
screenshot

3DMARK06 (1280x1024)
5334 - crimsontwo - 9400 / 2GB 533/ WUXGA / Single / XGM 91.47 / 90W / 600c800 / 1.24v / GTX BIOS
screenshot

P.S. I've never used the ATITOOL before, so I don't know if it's common to get yellow dots on the 3D preview when scanning for artifacts (it says "no errors" yet the dots appear, hence I am not sure what it means by "artifacts"). There were no artifacts during both tests.
