Ok I bought a 7900gs rev A00 with a GTX bios already on it. I used drivers from laptopvideo2go and I got 1009 on 3dmark 05. So I flashed it back to the 500/1200 gs drivers and it wored, got 8843 in 3dmark 05. So I went back and tried to install the gtx bios again and everytime when I restart I get the BSOD. It doesn't matter what gtx bios I have tried. I have done both volt modded and not. Any ideas here?

Ok I think I got it down. 575/775 gsx 8850 on 3dmark 05. I am going to play with it some more tomorrow and see what I can get.

Ok I sm getting the BSOD again. If I turn my computer on, I get it. If I start it in safe mode, then restart normally I don't get it. I am about to give up.

i have had 2 of 7900gs both have said "rev a01" and both have been revision 0 cards from looking at the bois. what exactly do the rev1 stickers say? i have one of the cards out in my car i'll check later to make sure i didn't mis-read something, but my 1st guess would have been that reva01 would mean it is a revision 1 card

You can check your video card rev by looking at the bios (w/ nibitor) or using the properties listed by the driver (Display Properties -> Advanced)
Revision 0 (rev.0) - bios 05.71.22.16.13
Revision 1 (rev.1) - bios 05.71.22.28.01
Alternatively you can just dump your bios and look at the size of it
Personally I would pay no attention to the stickers

some info:

Bios version 05.71.22.28.01 date 05\12\06 product g71

bios size 62464 bytes, 65536 on disk

i went to my car at lunch time and checked, the card has rev0 and rev1 stickers on it. when i flashed it i went by the bios version, i hadn't even seen the card at that point. it wasn't until it fried and had to replace it that i noticed the sticker.

just raped my 9400 with a bios update, before i had read all the warnings about the new 9400's with the new G-Card, about to attempt to do a blind boot hopefully fixing my card...im so sick right now, cause my card was scoring around a 6500 every time in 3dmark05 and thats pretty good out of the box stock......im gonna go cry before i re-boot her.

That just doesnt make sense to me...Youre saying that you looked at the version and it wasnt right? I mean, yeah, someone could easily change those values but I doubt you can easily inject/remove 1.5 kb of data (then again I havent been stupid enough to try this yet)

Ok another thing other than the BSOD. Everytime I attempt to use the nvidia control panel the computer freezes. I have tried 2 sets of drivers using driver cleaner in between. Also I have used about 10 different ROMS, GS and GTX, regular and volt mod. Nothing changes. Can anybody help me?

I had a memory parity error so ive reduced the clocks, are you running overclocked or not?

i'm sorry, i guess i wasn't being clear enough. i checked the bios and it said the card was a rev0, so i flashed using a rev0 bios and all went well. about a week later the card died, i'm not sure why, but i would guess it just couldn't take the overclock (500/600) or heat. when i replaced the card i noticed it had a sticker that said rev a01, but after checking again i noticed it had both a rev0 and rev1 sticker on it. bottom line is "pay no attention to the stickers they put on the cards"
ok ok that makes sense
I think I got it figured out. Alrought I uninstalled my old card and ran driver cleaner, for some reason I still noticed ati drivers in my add/removed programs (who would have ever though to look there). Well I deleted all the crap and the nvidia crap and started fresh. I got the v550c775 on here and it is working great.

Hey guys... I've seen tons of people using the GTX Bios in the 7900GS and so... but I don't know the currently status.

I'm going to receive a new e1705, ... and I was thinking in try the GTX Bios... is this running all stable and without problems with all e1705 versions? Even the news ones?

Do you have any related of people having damage his card attempling to do that??

I think that important info like these, should be posted in the firsts posts, so nobody needs to read like +55 pages to see what's going on...

Thanks.

problem with that is that the original poster has to update his post or someone just has to make a whole new thread...I guess I could post what I know in the second post since I think i posted there but thats another issue...If you have a rev1 bios you wont be able to use the gtx bios afaik
