7900GS + GTXBios = 7900GSX - Page 46

im running mine at 500/600 for heat stability and a general performance increase, you could try using i8kfangui and keep the fans on full to see how that helps.

hi guys, got one little problem. i flashed my 7900gs successfully in a 7900 gtx with 600/700. but i dont see any performence increase in 3d2006 or in games like crysis or bioshock. with the original clocksetting of the 7900gs i scored ca 3500 and with flashed bios and 600/700 clocksetting just around 3800. im using the newest nvidia driver 163.71. im also using a 130w power supply.

someone an idea?

I expect youn are hitting the thermal limit of your card making it throttle down, what are your gpu temps like? also what cpu have you got in there?
ive got an intel core duo t2500 (2ghz). the temp were around 90°c during ati tool, finding max mem/core, also during gaming
post #905 of 1054
try clocking it down abit and see what happens, you certainly dont want it to be running at that temp all the time. Where are you getting your temps from?

Hello bullseye... i just flashed my card yesterday.. 7900gs... i have it set like at 575 and 650... my scores from 3dmark 06 were 3500 and jumped to 4400... i am using 84.63 drivers i belive and have a 90 watt power supply Now this is the part we both have in common: I play crysis and i have not seen any difference... actually i had to go back to my default settings because it wasnt performing well at all... what is your gamespy id? mine is gatfly

OK this is not good... i changed my profile in ati tool to default clock settings and they are still in the 90's! Is this normal the temps should of went down :S any idea
post #910 of 1054
what voltage are you at? im at 1.24v and mine gets over 70c but not much more when gaming. Put your fans on with i8kfangui to help.
yea before at 575 650 it was running 90 so i brought it down to 375 500 default...and it was still running 90 91 92... has this ever happend to you Doughy? I will put the fans... on just was getting nervous... yea i am using 1.24 voltage...
no thats not happened, are you getting temps from nvidia control panel?
hey, first of all thx for the answers.

@doughy: i'll set the clocksetting bit lower to see what'll be happening.
ill report it here. the temp ive got from atitool during the artefectscan. according to some other users in this thread the temp of 90c is "normal" so i didnt think about it.
what are your scores in 3dmark06?

@gatfly: well because crysis didnt run smooth i installed the new driver 163.71, because it says it gives some perfomenceboost, but i didnt see anything. perhabs you should try it to see whats happening. earlier i had driver problem with bioshock, with older driver it crashed, with new worked.
btw gamespyid is bullseyes

well i was trying to download this at a friend's house and i kept getting:

The requested URL /notebookforums/7900GSX.iso was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Now I am trying it at home and i'm getting the same thing??

I tried to install the 163.71 drivers but i keep getting an error when i install them saying that they cannot locate and compatable drivers or something like that ???????
use one of these drivers. http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/...p?showforum=72
you have to unpack the driver first. then copy the MODIFIED inf into the folder. it should work.

just saw there are new drivers, will try it to see what happend (perhaps stranglehold will work finally.....)

The iso is not hosted anymore as far as I know. If you want a rom, either make it yourself with nibitor or check out the sticky thread here about unlocking the card. Oh, I see the confusion now I guess. You are trying to download the iso in this thread. Doughy gave you the link he wanted you to use in post 899
