If you have a 7900gs whatever you do do not use the wrong rom, the rom you will use starts with 790.

Thanks for the link. Just flashed my 7900gs with the gtx one and all seemed ok until i started getting different scores in 3d mark 05 and noticed that while 3d mark is running it starts running off batteries. This wasn’t happening before so I am guessing going to 1.25 volts has tipped it over the 90watt limit of the power supply, I should note that I also have a 7200 rpm drive installed.

What do you guys think.

have you tried turning the powermizer off? I wouldnt run it on batteries for testing anyway, it just does not have the kick for it. I ran my 7900gsx on a 90w and it was fine.

Yep runs like a dog on batteries and hence my problem, while the video card is stressing my comp switches from mains to batteries automatically and i have to physically unplug the brick from the wall and replug it back in for the comp to recognise it is plugged into the mains.

You guys seen this problem before?

I suggest using a 130 watt brick if your OC the GPU

Yeah it would be a good idea, just cos mine ran ok it does not mean yours will. Its quite a cheap item to buy.

Just orderd one from eBay.

Doughy have you allso upgraded your HDD to a 7200 rpm one or you still running the stock one?
Just asking because it may be that combination of the OC'ed card and the 7200 rpm drive that make me need a new brick and not you.

I dont have one now but i did upgrade to a seagate momentus 7200 and it was a lot faster than the 5400 which came with it.

Actually, some of the most power consuming drives I have seen have been 5400 RPM. Now obviously, everything else the same, higher RPM equals more power but I'm guessing people may just skimp when it comes to making 5400 RPM drives.

Just looked it up, I have a Hitachi Travelstar 7K200 and its one of the greediest drives out there sucking 3 watts of power while under load compared to others that only suck around 2.3 - 2.4.
But still not that much of a difference.

Does anyone know if you have an under powered psu then your laptop will switch to batteries?
yes it usually does

it also tends to kill your PSU over time in that your running it at max capacity which stresses the parts (creates alot of heat)

Can somone link me with the web page that lists all different roms?
Great. I just flashed my card using 795gtxun.rom and now my screen is blank.

Can ayone show me the sequence for blind flashing using F12 boot menu.

I have a rev 0 7900gs.
You don't have to F12 if you remove all bootable media except for the one containing the rom you want to flash. So take out the hard drive and use either a bootable cd or usb and you won't have to use the F12 menu.

Also, the link in my signature has an autoexec for blind flashing and the proper nvflash to use for 7 series cards. It also has a link to the roms.

Edit: Link fixed. Oh and your card may not be recoverable. I can't remember exactly if the 7950 bios bricks the computer or not. Also, I think the system bios has a role in the whole ordeal as well.

I'm back baby i'm back.

Fixed it by blind flash.

Where I went wrong is I used typed 5 inted of a 0 when typing out the rom, got me a blank screen. + a heart attack.

Thanks for the help.

ps. couldnt find that link for the vid card roms.
