HELP - Sony VGNA - broken keyboard ribbon cable clamp

Hi,
I live in Europe and have a Vaio VGN-A497XP, I guess in the USA was called something like VGNA190.
Anyway I just DID it! I Tried to detach the keyboard ribbon cable and BROKEN the little plastic clamp (one of the two 'legs' just snapped).
Do you know where to get a replacement clamp: sony europe would NOT sell any spare at all!!!
They just want the Notebook back for a fortnight and bill me a huge invoice for this tiny little plastic.
At the moment the PC is working fine because I forced what's left of the clamp (it's "leftlegless") back into the connector with the ribbon cable-in but I fear that it will all come apart when I'll move the PC around.

Any help would be much appreciated: the machine is great.

NOTE: I am terribly disappointed by both the hardware arrangement inside the laptop (the design goes against ANY personal maintenance) and (most of all) by Sony-Europe's support.

Thanks in advance

the plastic clip serves only to hold (snug) the ribbon into place. get urself a piece of thin/hard lamination and slide it in along with the ribbon, make sure it sticks out a bit for later when u want to pull the ribbon out again

cheers ...

Thanks very much for your help: I think your idea is great.
Just one further question (sorry must be my English but I can't figure it out)
What do you mean exactly with 'thin/hard lamination': is that a thin piece of cardboard or plastic or what? can't be metal, can't it?
Is it likely to heat much at that connector place?

Thanks in advance

PS For your info I tried to find the bloody clip on the net, as a spare, but there are thousands of connector types and none look the same as this one.

use a folio type of paper, the one they use for projector slides?
