Just got a new mouse

Lookie here -> Microsoft Link

I just picked up this mouse from a Best Buy in Northeast Philadelphia. It's not in most stores yet - in fact - you can't order it on amazon.com yet either.

It's a bluetooth mouse. It comes with a bluetooth adaptor, but I chose to use it with the built in bluetooth module on this M1210.

It's nice and tiny, just like my old Microsoft Notebook optical mouse - I bought that thing when optical mouses first came out a few years ago, right before Windows XP came out.

5 years later, Vista is almost out, and it's time for a new mouse for me.

It has a built-in laser pointer, and media buttons on the bottom. It can do volume, play/pause, next, previous, and the sixth button is to turn on the laser pointer. It works great with Media Center.

It has the regular 2 buttons, a scroll wheel with the side-to-side scrolling things on the sides. It's a very smooth wheel, a lot different than my old mouse. On the sides are foward/back buttons - but you can customize these, and intellipoint lets you do per-application settings.

In other news: Need for Speed Carbon is out tomorow for PC - and I have my copy reserved!

I can post pics of the mouse if ya want them.

Hmm. It works with the built-in Bluetooth - but it only installs as a HID compliant mouse. When I use the Microsoft adapter, it installs as a Notebook Presenter Mouse 8000 - and all the fancy features work fine.

I am begining to think that the Dell bluetooth module is crappy. (Well, the drivers really) But it was only $20 so I guess I'm not out for much. :/

EDIT: I have the Dell 355 Bluetooth (2.0+EDR)

Similar story for me and my MX1000 bluetooth. If I install the WIDCOMM stack and trick it to think that it is connecting via the logitech dongle, it works 100%. Without it, I lose some functionality.

I don't know about the MS mouse, but you might take a look at the stickied bluetooth thread. There is a lot of good information in there about getting BT to work the way you want it to. You just might find your solution.

Where is this thread? It's not in here, or the Dell Forum.
