m60 or 8600?

Thread Starter
i have been looking into getting a new NOTEbook and was wondering what are the differnces between the m60 and 8600? how do their graphics, build, hardware, design stack up (for graphics the fx1000 v ati 9600)? if i were to find a 15% off small business (will i be able to find one?) would it be better to wait for the m60? Thanks a lot!

M60 is basically the cream of the crop of 8600's there isnt a single part on the M60 that isnt equal or better than the 8600

Except for the video card. The consensus of those who have tested them both is, the 8600's ATI 9600 is better than anything you can get in a laptop from Nvidia.

Go M60!

I am in the UK and would LOVE to buy an M60, but the price is DOUBLE the 8600. I know you are paying for a decent quality chassis and construction, but the performance is very similar.

Come on Dell, drop the price of the M60 in the UK like you did in the states. COME ON!

ok let's make this the official post.. what exactly is the differences between the M60 and the 8600 that make it so much better?

Different chassis -- M60 is trimetal schtuff and has no blue on the outside
Video cards pointed at a different user groups -- Pro 3D versus Gamer
M60 has D-Port and an extra USB port

Bout it, as far as I know.

The D800 and M60 are the same except the video card. Or, heck, spend 10 minutes on Dell's website instead of asking everyone else to waste their time
