I am working on my first laptop
. Toshiba Satellite 2100CDS running WIN98. I swapped a CDROM drive for a DVDROM dve. Connected the ribbon, turned it back on; boots up ok but the drive is dead. Swapped the CDROM back it doesn't start either. To me it should be a simple connection. I am following the official Toshiba service manual. The only thing I notice is that there should be a lip according to the manual on the Toshiba/IDE connector but I don't see that on this computer.
Anyone got any ideas?
