Little bit of a problem..

My friend is telling me her isn't working.. typical for computer newbies, turn to someone who knows computers more than they do, aka me.

Now i'm not the expert at all but I was wondering what you guys thought here's how she describes the problem: "well its not turining on too well. it turns on but the screen stays blank except for in the corner there is a flashing space bar"

any idea what might be happening? I just wanna know what I might need to take with me to fix this.. would I need to re-install the operating system?

Could be a couple of things... the BIOS could be corrupted which may need to be reset. The boot partition may be screwed up somehow and need to be reset. You can do this with a boot cd depending on the operating system. The boot up options may have been changed so verify the boot sequence of devices.

Bring with you the CD of whatever OS is installed or some type of BOOT Disk for the OS. If you need boot disk go to www.bootdisk.com and may a choice.
