How likely that I can move 15.4 LCD to another brand laptop?

I have 15.4 WUXGA screen and very happy with it. I already moved it once from I6000 to I6400 and plan to move it again once 15.4 laptops that can play next generation dvds become available. I assume here that I would need a videocard with HDCP on it to play next gen dvds (hd-dvd and blue-ray) even on laptop's own screen and upgrade will be necessary. How likely that LCD connectors/voltages will be compatible between different brands of laptops?

Possible, but not likely. I tried the same thing... to get a WSXGA+ from my old i8600 into my Uniwill laptop which only has WXGA. The problem lies in the connection and LCD flex cable (ie: where it is located, etc), as well as; for example; the pysical location of screw holes to enable you to put it into a different chassis.

You had luck with the i6000-> i6400 because they had the same chassis, going a completely different brand may give you problems. So I would not order a new one with a crappy screen in blind faith that you can swap them...

Also doesn't the display, in this case the LCD, have to be HDCP compliant as well? I could be wrong, not completely up on HDCP.
