My drive has some issues. It cannot recognize or burn any blank cd or dvd that it sees. It was working before but i have no idea when it just decided to stop working. THe drive can read dvds, cds and even dvds and cds burned on other computers.

I so ran this program from microsoft called "autofix" http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

and gave me errors in autoplay v2 event but it couldn't fix it here is the log:

malware/virus scan?
use cCleaner to "fix" issues - this would clear up some missing/corrupted registry

cheers ...

Here is a link to a fix on microsoft forums that solves the problem if it is software related . It involves correcting the registry files :

http://forums.microsoft.com/technet/...&tf=0&pageid=1

It works !! I hope it does for you

Thank you Guys for sharing this bug fix.

I have a Samsung Q35 Notebook and the DVD drive failed to respond to reading any disks.

I was ready to send the laptop to Samsung for repair. I had assumed it was mechanical problems with the optical drive.

I persevered for a few hours looking for similar problems on various sites , nothing obvious to help even from Samsung !

until I found the above fix on the technet forum.

Thanks a million ! you deserve a good few beers for providing this remedy
