this is getting ridiculous haha

4 core cpu chips (or 8 if you are running duel cpus) and there's already quad sli but now potential for 6 gpu's

sick sick sick...

I wasn't an NBFer when I had my old vapo rig, but I used to do some heavy overclocking. We should build new rigs w/8800's and see who can get the higher 3dmark score.

u challenging me chode?

haha...well I would love to build another rig for benching etc., but now that i'm living here on the west coast (costs TONS more to live out here)...

I won't be building another rig until spring probably (when I have my own place again)

I'm sure we can break some records chode or rack up some serious electric bills =P

true. i wont be building a new rig for a few months, so you have time to prepare for destruction I gotta pull up some of my old cpu-z screen shots and 3dm screens.

Ahh, the beauty of having a broken power meter (for about 2 years!)

wonder what kind of improvments nvidia will get by using ddr4 mem

wonder what ati will come out with to answer nvidia's call

will be nice to see what happens in the first quater, processer market is gonna be lame, cause intel is thinking more cores, amd is busy with ati and getting the merge going smoothe

will be a good yearfor computers in 2007, cant wait

qft, i wish the tech would get better, not just slap on more cores, yes it help slightly

how about more cache and better use of the cache itself, how about make it so no more need for a paging file, that you can use some of the processers cache or the ram can be used diffrently

i dunno, id rather see somthing better than quad core myself

somthing new and great

3dmark benchmarks suck, no one cares about them anymore only thing itt does is gives a base of where your card should be not only that, i havent read your link, but you know that the free version of 3dmark only comes in 1024/768 res? you know how easy it would be to get 10k plus with that rez? not only that, but im sure he has a bottleneck somewhere to give him less scores, hence 3dmark sucks and isnt worth much for benchmarking not only that, hes phase cooling, thats extreme, and i highly doubt someone on air would get those scores also, he has a quad core intel chip, kentsfield.......but nice none the less, shows where the tech is going, and where we will end up mid quarter next year soulsaver

1--Someone must or this thread wouldn't have started
2--I agree
3&4--3dmark06 res. is 1280x1024, much easier to get those scores at the tests default resolution than the res. the cards are capable of
5--Reading the specs I could see no bottlenecks
6--Extreme yes it's from extremesystems.org/ no way it's happening with air unless you hook up a 6500 btu ac unit
7--All of these components are currently available, mid quarter next year is here!

Jees man, it's only numbers

after a certain level of hardware performance, the difference between 1024x768 and 1280x1024 is negligible.

no, your processer would be......a fat guy walking in heat in florida, and your video card would be a cheeta.....

get a dual core 2.4ish or so, and 2x1 gig of ram if you intend to drop 600 on a video card to match up

itd run ok, but if you have the money to buy one 8800gtx

get a new mobo/proc/ram/hard drive, and a buget video card to match the proc well enough to make it look better......then when you have more money to upgrade, upgrade the video card first, then work on the other stuff
