Dual hard drive compatible? - Page 2

Do you really need all these options? 4 HDDs is just plain crazy!

When you are handling video editing, you go thu a lot of disk. I use every single feature, option and capability of my 8890 - that's exactly why I purchased it.

To wit:
16" SXGA screen - uxga too small for my eyes. Resolution also matches my external 19" Samsung 193T LCD.
DVI output - used to connect to external LCD as above - pin sharp image
Full size keyboard - used when entering numeric data
RAID 0 disks - 140 GB of fast storage for video edit, saving large (100MB spreadsheets), stock market analysis thrashes lots of small files.
3rd disk drive - near line storage of client site setups
DVD/CD writer - burning duplicates of client disks for disaster recovery
5.1 digital and analog sound out - listening to CD's whilst working
DVD+5.1 watching DVD movies when staying at motels etc
Integrated floppy - legacy support for Sun/DEC/HP/IBM servers. Saving small files. Because drive is inside laptop I can have my laptop sitting in 19" rack or on stool and work without having to balance an external floppy disk drive.
Serial port - connecting to service ports of Fibre Switches, bar code scanners etc etc etc. Legacy support to servers.
Parallel port - legacy printer and current printer. EPROM programmer.
6in1 card reader - MMC from phone and camera.
IR port - sync to phone
Bluetooth - data connection to phone then mobile call to ISP when landline not available. When you have a couple of $100K in the stockmarket the cost of a data call is tiny.
Video in - capture of video from non-FW sources
Video out - presentation work using TV as display device
Exhaust vent - keeping my coffee warm
Mic input - video capture
PCMCIA slots - additional network connections (I am often connected to 3 networks simultaneously).
USB ports - Mouse, Cable modem, digital camera (non-card type)
Modem - backup for cable or when away from cable connection.
TV module - when I get bored doing all the above

Obviously not everyone has such demands on their laptops - I do so I needed the meanest, ugliest laptop I could find - trouble was DELL was just too ugly so I chose the 8890
